Bio-technology
Hello,
Yes, as a PCB student, you can apply for B.Tech in Biotechnology, but it depends on the eligibility criteria set by the university or the entrance exam you want to take. Some colleges might ask for Mathematics for B.Tech courses, but some universities allow PCB students for Biotechnology. Many engineering colleges give admission to students through exams like:
JEE Mains, this exam is mostly for PCM students, but a few private colleges also accept PCB students.
State-level exams are also there; they conduct their own entrance exams (like MHT CET, etc.), where eligibility for biotech may include PCB.
University-level exams include Institutes like Vellore Institute of Technology (VITEEE), SRM Institute (SRMJEEE), or Amity University, which have their own entrance exams and accept PCB students for B.Tech Biotechnology.
Some colleges might give direct admission based on your Class 12 marks, especially for students with a background in biology. But checking the eligibility criteria of each institute is important, as some still ask for Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
You can also explore integrated programs, such as B.Tech + M.Tech in Biotechnology, or B.Sc + M.Sc dual degrees, which are more biology-focused and don’t always require Maths.

Best of luck
As a PCB student planning to do B.Tech in biotechnology here are main entrance exams
1.JEE Main(for some colleges)
Physics, chemistry either Math or biology, some colleges accept Biology for biotechnology.many top colleges offering B.Tech biotechnology accept JEE Main scores but prefrence is often given to student with Math.
2.Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG)
With CUET it is possible to admission to Central universities like BHU ,DU which offer B.sc or B.Tech .
PCB students are eligible.
3.State level Entrance exam
MHT -CET (Maharashtra)
WBJEE( West Bengal)
KCET(Karanataka)
TS EAMCET /AP EAMCET (Telangana/Andhra Pradesh)
4.Private University Entrance exam - some private universities have their own entrance exam and accept PCB students.
Choosing between IT ( Information Technology ) and Biotechnology depends on your interests, career goals, and the kind of work environment you prefer.
Information Technology : IT deals with software, programming, data, networking, and system management. Graduates in IT can work as software developers, data analysts, cybersecurity experts, cloud engineers, and more. This is a very good choice for students interested in coding, logic, and tech- based innovation.
Biotechnology : Biotech combines biology with technology to develop medical, agriculture, and environmental solutions. Career options include research, pharmaceuticals, genetic engineering, food tech, and lab works. This is a very good choice for students interested in biology, and scientific research.
At the end of the day, it depend on your interests, choice and passion.
BS College also known as Bhupendra Narayan Mandal College, Saharsa, affiliated with Purnea University, offers B.Sc. in Biotechnology, which is a 3-year undergraduate course that provides a mixture of biology and technology. If you're planning to take admission in this college, it’s important to understand the basic eligibility and admission process. To be eligible for the B.Sc. Biotechnology program, you should have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects. Some colleges also accept Mathematics along with Biology. The minimum required marks of class 12 may vary each year, but having at least 45–50% in aggregate in science subjects is usually expected.Admission is generally done through the university's official application portal. For BS College Saharsa admission notices are released by Purnea University, either through merit-based lists or offline college-level admissions. Always track the official college or university website to stay updated about forms, deadlines, and document submission. After applying, you will be selected based on merit and seat availability. They do not have an entrance exam for this course, but you should confirm this on the latest admission notification from Purnea University. The B.Sc. The biotechnology course covers a wide range of subjects like molecular biology, genetics, and microbiology.

Both BSc Biotechnology and Pharm D are good, but they are different fields.
BSc Biotechnology is more about research, lab work, and industries like agriculture, food, and genetics. It is good if you want to work in labs or go for higher studies like MSc or PhD.
Pharm D is a professional doctor-level course. It is best if you want to become a clinical pharmacist or work in hospitals and healthcare.
If you are interested in hospital jobs or clinical practice, go for Pharm D . If you like research and lab work, go for BSc Biotechnology.
Hope it helps !
Sure, I can help with that if I know which college you're referring to. Once I have the name, I can check if they offer a 3 year B.Sc. Biotechnology undergraduate course.
Yes, the BNN College does offers BSc in Biotechnology course. It is a three years full time undergraduate program. The seat intake is 35.
