Bioinformatics
The scope of Bioinformatics in both Industry or Research in Indka is comparatively low, though nowadays you see many of the IITs working on Bioinformatics and similar domains. You may even plan a Masters or PhD abroad in Bioinformatics for better career scope and placement prospects.
After a Bachelors Degree in Physics, incase you are interested in Bioinformatics, Biophysics and similar interdisciplinary fields, first try getting a couple of Research Internships/Projects with some Professors from Top IITs or your Home Institutes. The Summer Reseach Fellowship Program is another good means and you may opt for an Internship at Institutions like IISc Bangalore, IISERs or CSIR Labs.
Following which try developing your profile with Projects, Skills, Accolades and Research Interests, followed by applying for various Universities abroad, once you are done with Respective Examinations like GRE, IELTS, Etc. You may appear for GATE in Physics/Biotechnology (Do Check Requirements for Respective IITs, IISc Bangalore) followed by a M.Tech/MS from some of the Elite Research Institutions of India.
Dear Student,
Eligibility Criteria of this course:
Thank You.
Dear aspirant,
As per my view if I had to consider placements only then of course mnit bhopal and IIIT allahabad would be at a better place if I had to compare between nit Agartala and iiest shibpur.
Nit Agartala is considered to be a decent college not very good or not bad whereas iiest shibpur placements are not very great in case of biotechnology. The placements are very dull. Almost 30-40% are placed from this branch which is very less.
So, IIIT allahabad average package stands somewhere between 18L for cse and for other branches 8-9L atleast. Same in the case for manit bhopal but average package is a bit lower.
HELLO ASPIRANTS,
Both the courses are very good. Whether you choose forensic science or bioinformatics you will have a great career as these two sectors are flourishing rapidly. Below I am going to give you details about both the courses so that it will become easier for you to choose.
Bioinformatics course is an interdisciplinary field of science that combines mathematics, engineering, computer science, and statistics to understand and interpret biological information. It has become an important part of many aspects of biology and it has several applications in areas of agriculture, health, energy, environment, and biotechnology. This course is a very interesting and demanding subject and you can easily make a career in this field after completing your education or degree. There are many job opportunities in this field and it is also a highly paid sector in abroad countries.
If you want to continue your study in the field of Bio-information then you have plenty of options namely,
M.Sc in Bioinformation
M.Tech in Bioinformation
PG Diploma in Bioinformation
MS in Bioinformation
ME in Bioinformation
All these courses are master's level programs with a duration of 2 years. There are doctoral courses with a duration of 3 to 5 years such as a Ph.D. in Bioinformation.
Skills required to pursue a career in Bioinformation are; Excellent problem-solving skills, fair knowledge in computer, technology, and software, and good communication skills.
Eligibility-
The candidates who want to get admission in the master level courses have to require a bachelor degree in Biological, Physical, Agricultural, Veterinary, Fishery Sciences, Horticulture, Pharmacy, Engineering, Technology or Medicine degrees such as MBBS/BAMS/BHMS, etc. the candidates also can get admission in different courses in Bachelors and Masters level courses through state and national level entrance exams such as UGC NET/ CSIR NET JRF, GATE, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF.
Top institute of this course-
IIT, Delhi
IIT, Kharagpur
NIT, Bhopal
NIT, Rourkela
JNU, New Delhi
Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune
Job options-
Research Scientist
Bioinformatics Software Developer
Science Technician
Database Programmer
Content Editors
Pharmacogenomics and many more.
Salary-
A Bioinformatics degree holder can earn a good amount of salary. If you are working in the private sector then you can expect an amount of Rs. 2 to Rs. 3 LPA and if you are working in a governmental sector or in any hospital then you will get approximately Rs. 3 to Rs. 4 LPA. the amount of salary may differ based on experience and work profiles.
Forensic Science is a multidisciplinary subject including biology, physics, chemistry, psychology, social science, etc. There are plenty of government and private colleges available where you can pursue this course. Some of the top colleges are Punjab University, Anna University, Chennai, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, AIIMS, Delhi, DU, Amity University, etc.
There are multiple levels of courses available such as Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D., Diploma, and other certified courses. As you are asking here for Master’s level courses so i am giving details about all the Post Graduate level programs such as
Name of the courses with their duration & eligibility requirements-

There are many more options available for you. You can join the government or private services and your salary may differ based on where you are working, work profile, experience, and so on. But as a fresher, you can approximately expect a salary of Rs. 3 to Rs. 4 LPA.
I hope this helps you and you have any further queries then feel free to ask in the comment section.
Best Wishes.
Hello,
BSC biotechnology is 3 years bachalor degree course. It's course divided into six semesters that provide details knowledge about biomolecular and cellular activities and be informed about different technologies to study them .
BTech biotechnology is undergraduate engineering course. Its mainly applied biology and chemical engineering principles that involves use living things engineering, technology, medicine etc.
BTech bioinformatics is undergraduate engineering course. It's mainly biology, computer science and information technology including use for design database and detailed biological information.
Three courses are very good, so now it's totally your choice which one you will choose as your career.
All the best.
If you are interested in the Bio-Engineering Domain, your Undergraduate should always be focussed in Biotechnology and hence lay strong foundation in all domains like Genetic Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biomaterials and Drug Design. Henceforth, you must pursue Postgraduation/Doctoral Degree in relevant interest area like Bioinformatics, for better career scope and prospects.
Yes, you are eligible for this exam.
The candidates who have secured at least 55% marks in Master's Degree or equivalent examination from universities/ institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities and Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science etc., are eligible for this test.
Hope it helps.
Good Luck!
