booming fields in biomedical sciences

piyush singh 6th Jan, 2022

Hello, I hope you are doing well

Biomedical sciences are a set of sciences applying some parts of natural science or formal science, or sometimes both, to develop knowledge or technology that are of use in healthcare or public health.

Here are some career options in biomedical science which are in demand right now:

  1. Neuroscientist - Due to the progress in computer technology and artificial intelligence (AI), neuroscience, which involves the study of the brain’s nervous system and neuronal cell biology, has been booming steadily.
  2. Epigenetics Engineer - Epigenetics is an emerging field about external modifications to DNA that turn genes on or off and affect how genes are expressed, all without changes to the DNA sequence.
  3. Genetic Counselor - There was a time when genetic testing was costly and time-consuming but genetic testing has now become both widespread and affordable. In addition to commercial companies that offer genealogical DNA tests, the public also has the ability to test their DNA to learn how inherited diseases might affect them.
  4. Cytogenetics technologist - Cytogenetics is a branch in the growing field of genetics that involves examining chromosomes to identify structural abnormalities. Unlike genetic counselors who discuss genetic testing with patients, cytogenetic technologists actually perform genetic testing.
  5. Cheminformatics - Cheminformatics combines the field of chemistry (including its applications to biology) with computer and information science techniques in order to create chemical databases and virtual libraries.

Hope this helps.

I am going to pass my 12th this year and want to pursue carrier in clinical embryology . So, can i do post graduation in clinical embryology after doing bsc in biomedical sciences or biotech? please reply .

Kajal Gautam 1st Jan, 2022
Hello Dear,

Hope you are doing well....

First of all , we will see on some points about Clinical embryology.  In India, a clinical embryology course is offered as a masters programme or as a certified course form several health institutions.
However, those students who wants  to become a clinical embryologist :-

-- A candidate must take physics, chemistry and biology in the 10 + 2 level. This helps students to get hold of basic knowledge about science concepts since the beginning.

-- A candidate must apply for a graduate programme with similar subjects.

-- The graduation knowledge would allow aspirants to gain detailed knowledge of different concepts.

So yes you can apply for a masters program in clinical embryology after graduation in Bio-Tech.

Good luck for your bright future..!!

Hope this will help you....

Hello dear aspirant,

Hope you’re doing well…

To get admission in B.Sc. Honours biomedical sciences, aggregate of PCB is taken into account in university of delhi colleges.
Keeping in mind the previous year’s cut off and your percentage of 92.66 ( if this is your PCB aggregate) and your EWS category .. there is a chance for you to get into either of the above mentioned colleges in 3rd cut off, if the seats under the ews category dont get filled.

You can also use the university of Delhi college predictor tool to get appropriate answer that which college you can get. I am attaching the link below

darshita 16th Oct, 2021

Hello,

Firstly talking about BSC in this if you are opting for subjects like clinical research then there is whole loads of scope in India as well as abroad. BSc clinical research is offering a very high remuneration to the professionals. The academic program, BSc clinical research include the classes that encompass organic, general, biology, microbiology, advanced chemistry, physiology and human anatomy. And with the government taking a keen interest in developing the R&D sector you can rest assured that they will have a promising and rewarding career in the field. Also, BSc in Life Sciences as that would give you various options in terms of jobs, postgraduate education, and research opportunities.

Now talking about BPT you can say that after successful completion of the BPT course, you can get employment opportunities in both the private and government sectors. The BPT course graduates are lucratively employed in areas such as hospitals, health institutes, fitness centres, private clinics.

So as for pursuing higher education or job opportunities you can definitely go for bsc applied sciences.

Hope this helps!!

I want to become a biomedical scientist and work in India. What steps will have to follow in order to become a biomedical scientist. Do I have to crack NEET also? I havent decided any specific field in biomedical sciences yet. I am a class 11th student now studying in Himachal Pradesh.

Pragya sarwaiya 24th Jul, 2021

Hi

In order to become a biomedical scientist, you don't have to give NEET exam

You can have any degree in biology field, if you are graduated in any field in bio (biotechnology is mostly suggested), you can further continue your studies by doing PhD, perform  research and continue to work on it.

This field is vast, you will have enormous options ahead.

Best of luck
