Can a B.Tech CSE graduate pursue Business analyst as a career ?

Naman Modi 28th Nov, 2018

Hello Asif

Beginning business analysts need to have either a strong business background or extensive IT knowledge. With that, you can start to work as a business analyst with job responsibilities that include collecting, analyzing, communicating and documenting requirements, user-testing and so on. Entry-level jobs may include industry/domain expert, developer, and/or quality assurance. Within a few years you could choose to become a Subject Matter Expert (SME). This is the time to delve into the areas that interest you most and develop those areas that can help you progress into higher management positions

Your BTech with CSE will work as an upper hand in your case as you already have the IT skills required. Many employers hiring for senior analyst or consultant positions, or looking to promote within the organization, look for candidates who hold master's degrees in business administration (MBAs) or other relevant business fields. It's not uncommon for junior analysts to return to school for master's degrees after several years of experience working in the field. However, a master's degree is not generally an absolute requirement for advancement. Sufficient work experience, specialized knowledge and a record of high performance may suffice for a job candidate who does not hold a master's degree.

Thank You

How to join job profile of business analyst in IT field?

Mona 9th Feb, 2017
Business analyst is a person who analyze, transform and ultimately solve the problem with their skills. Many BAs get their start as a subject matter expert (SME) on a big project in their organization. Another common approach is to be a developer-who can write and speak to the client. One other option is to find a BA training program. Many of these are aimed at existing BAs who are looking to improve their skills and resume, and are priced for professionals. MS certification won't help much. But if some SDLC experience in any capacity is there can help you. The ability to draw a process with some sort of recognized boxes and lines notation, like UML process diagrams, BPMN, or data flow diagrams. or else you can even learn online. Having a work experience will definitely help you but in the same sector.

What is the education qualification a business analyst should have?

Mona 9th Feb, 2017
The basic qualification required in Masters in either one in Marketing, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Information Science etc. Work experience of 3-5 years can help in good package and designation. Yes you should have certifications. Some employers prefer business analysts with certification from the Institute of Management Consultants (IMC). The certified management consultant (CMC) exam is available in three levels: basic, experienced and management. The basic level requires applicants to have a bachelor's degree and 3-9 years of consulting experience and five satisfactory evaluations. The experienced and management levels require more work experience. In addition to meeting requirements, applicants must pass a written and oral exam to become certified. Certification can help business analysts stand out in the field and provide proof of competence.
