IISWBM offers MBA for 2 years and the respective course fee is around 6 lakhs. The ROI is good enough for people having 23 years experience. With 23 years prior experience and specialisation in Marketing, one can get packages of 67.5 lakhs p. a. Average package in marketing can be around 5 lpa. For Finance and HR the situation is a bit on the downside. But overall the placement scenario is good enough. If you have a good percentile in CAT and are looking for colleges with better placement scenarios and pay packages offered then IISWBM may not be a good choice.

IISWBM is a good institution in Kolkata that also addresses your concern for not being able to leave the city for now atleast. But you must be mentally prepared to be ready to work anywhere in the country when you are placed. Corporates generally dislike candidates who are not mobile. The placement committee may not be as uber as other 'branded' and new age colleges, but the college does attract quite a few reputed organisations during placement season. How you fare there is entirely upon your academic performance as well as your active involvement in networking with alumni and peers. You can definitely consider studying at IISWBM, it will save you a lot of money and give you a good launchpad for your career for sure.
IISWBM is the oldest management education institution in India. For many years since its inception, it served as a personnel training center for reputed PSU s. It was many years later that it was opened for general students amd started offering MBA degrees under affiliation from university of Calcutta. So much for the history coming to the education and employment prospects: it has always been a reputed institution and students have been considered to be above average due to its reasonably stringent selection criteria. The MBA-day course is still one of the better ones available in eastern India and also more affordable than privately run colleges that boast of placement stats. Other full time courses like public systems management which offer specialisation into energy management, environmental management, hospital management and transportation&logistics are quite sought after and have been placing lot of students into world class organisations especially in the areas of supply chain and logistics. Even if one does not manage to secure a placement in the same field of study, the college's reputation will definitely open doors to various organizations. I am personally an example of such an alumnus. And , one more reality check.. please do not expect abnormally high and attractive offers to come to the campus. Its an old world institution that can do just the needful to provide you a respectable launchpad for your career.
