I did BSc Honours in Physics from Calcutta University. If i want to calculate overall/aggregate percentage, do i need to consider marks of all general subjects besides honours subject?? Or, I have to take into account only the honous marks to calculate the overall/aggregate percentage?

Abhishek Roy 19th Jan, 2021

No, according to latest CBCS system your pass marks will also be calculated in overall SGPA, out of 10 Credits.

Since 2018, CBCS System has taken place. According to CBCS, Hons has same value as your Pass.

Before that CU had 1+1+1 system, where aggregate was based only on Hons subjects, and pass subject marks were not calculated.

I have done my Graduation from Calcutta University in English Literature however I scored less than 50%. Currently I have been working for a MNC for more than 2yrs now. I want to pursue the dual MBA course (German) from Christ University. Am I eligible? What r my other options of good Universities?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 22nd Jan, 2021

hi,

In most of the top tier 1 MBA college , the requirement of marks of graduation in any of the institute is candidates must secure 50% score in graduation from a recognized education board. so it makes you not eligible for many of the colleges. A pass in UG Degree with an aggregate of 50% marks or equivalent grade. Students pursuing the International curriculum must note that eligibility is according to AIU stipulations. you may follow the below link to know details about eligibility criteria:

https://christuniversity.in/mba-admission-2021

however you may apply for XAT exams which does not have 50% marks criteria. after securing good score you may get admission in colleges which accept xat score like XLMI jamshedpur, courses offers by XLRI jamshedpur is as follows:

PGDM (BM)- business management

PGDM (HRM)- human resource management

PGDM (GM)- general management

Hii. I am Akash, I have completed my B.com from Calcutta university and now I will do mba in marketing but I have only 49.89% so which is best for me in anywhere in India.

Karam Vir 30th Dec, 2020

Hi,

Your marks in the graduation is tad low for getting admission into any of the MBA colleges. Don't just do a course for the purpose of qualification. If you want to do MBA , you should rather see colleges with a good placement record. If you have less graduation marks, you can opt for entrance examination conducted at state, national and even university level. You can appear for them and get into the top colleges. Also, you can go for distance MBA from IGNOU, Symbiosis Institute etc. If you do not want to go for entrance exams, there are many colleges providing MBA on direct basis. The only way to get into MBA college without entrance exam is Management quota whose fees is sometimes double than the actual fees. The Institutes offering direct admission to MBA are:

  • GIBS Bangalore
  • SOIL , Gurgaon etc.

Check more information about MBA without entrance or management quota here: https://university.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-government-degree-colleges-in-maharashtra

when will decentralised process for jadavpur university and calcutta university 2020 will start?? please inform as soon asnpossible please!!

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 5th Dec, 2020

Inspite of conducting 3 rounds of Counselling, there are as many as 449 seats lying vacant in 16 departments. And so to fill up the vacant seats, Jadavpur University might conduct decentralised counselling. The Varsity has to seek permission from the Higher Education Department for going ahead with the decentralisation route. 1239 Candidates have been allotted seats and atleast 40-50 students might not take admission which means the total no.of vacant seats will be atleast 500. This is approximately 1 in every 3 seats. And the University might conduct the decentralised process in the last week of December. But this is a tentative date and so please watch out for official information.

The same goes with Calcutta University. While we do not have the vacant seats data yet, atleast 500 seats might be vacant and the University has to take the permission from the State Government to begin the decentralised process. And this might take a while. May be atleast until the 3rd of 4th weeks of December. Please watch out for official information on the official website.
