Does B.Sc. (Honours) limits the career options than B.Sc. ??

Prachi Pant 12th Feb, 2021

Hello student,

Bsc honours give you a deep insight about a particular course and will be specific whereas in a Bsc programme you will have choice to choose the subject as per your interest and preference. Both the courses will have many opportunities. If you want to prepare for competitive exams, bsc prog will prove to be helpful whereas if you want to go for higher studies then honours degree will be a good option.

Thank you.

pdwords Student Expert 11th Jul, 2020

Hello,

There are many avenues to explore for a graduate in English Literature, but primarily you may look for job after your graduation or you want to go for higher studies. If you choose to go with the former options then youcan work in the field of journalism such as top publishing/media company for various roles, one of the area you can explore in writing, if there's a certain field that interests you then you can become expert in that, suppose technology interests you a great deal, you can become technical writer and work as a full-time, freelancer, part time according to your convenience. All these take time to happen, especially in the field of writing, you can start with your own blog and can also contribute to various sites, at first it's best you explore all the areas of writing in order to know what field really interest you. When it comes to MNC, it's great to know what are in-demand skills, and hone it accordingly, especially in this time and age where technology is so advanced and social media has expanded in such as large scale, these are some very good options  as well. Another florishing industry is Ed-Tech Industry, you can apply for the post of faculty or content development.

In government sector, you are eligible to apply for any exam based on graduation such as UPSC, State PSCs, SSC CGL Banking Exams such as IBPS & SBI(PO/Clerk, Nabard Grade B-Officer, RBI Grade B Officer/ Assistant, Insurance Companies such as LIC, GIC, NIACL, for the post of Assistant/AAO. Similiarly, Railway too recruit for posts which you can apply.

If you want to go for higher studies, you can do so by doing master's in the same field or doing BEd which is compulsory for teaching in school. With Master's in you field, you can qualify for NET/SET if you're interested in teaching in higher education. In case you want to go for a change you can go with MBA/Law program(LLB) etc.

If i get 65percent In ISC science Board is there any chance of getting into college for higher studies? What are the various career options in West bengal?

Soumili Majumdar 28th Jun, 2020
Hello there,
Since you have got 65% in your boards, you can apply in any engineering college in West Bengal. The basic eligibility criteria says that the candidate should pass their 10+2 level with atleast 55% aggregate in PCM. Hence, you can apply in any engineering college, apart from IITs and NITs, since these colleges require 75% aggregate.

For engineering colleges, you need to appear for JEE Mains. Since you are from West Bengal, you should appear for WBJEE. You can apply for engineering and architecture through your WBJEE rank.

You can also apply for pharmacy (B.Pharm), or do BSc in subjects like physics, chemistry, IT, and so on.

If you had biology, you can appear for NEET. Using the rank of NEET, you can get admission in MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS.

If you had computer science, you can take the course Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA). This is also a very good course.

You can also choose other streams like fashion designing, animation and graphic designing, mass communication, media science, and so on. There are many options open for you. All you need is to know which field interests you the most.

Hope this answer helps you.
Good luck!!
