mahimadogra_6929406 Student Expert 21st Nov, 2018

Hey Mitesh.

As you have already completed your Undergraduation in Engineering and now you want to pursue Law further, you should go for a 3 year LLB course from any recognised University. LLB is a general degree in Law there is no scope or requirement  of specialisation in any area of law the LLB degree itself. If you wish to specialise further you can pursue a 1 year or 2 year LLM course after that.

For admission in LLB there are separate entrance tests or admission procedures in different universities. The most sought after entrances are- DU LLb, MHCET, SLAT, PULLB, BHULLB, BVP LLb TSLAWCET etc.

Best of luck!

i want to become a criminal lawyer recently i done 12 board paper .just waiting for result now i can understand what can i do now .please

Richa Gautam 21st May, 2018
Hey,
To become acriminal lawyerin india, one has to be graduate in any stream and should possess LLB from a good reputed college to maintain the status quo.

You need to be ready to work tirelessly for long hours. One not only has to prepare to argue the case in court but also interact with the police and other investigating agencies.

One has to be ready for phone calls at any time in the night (or day) since personal liberty, its deprivation through arrest or detention have no time! Also at the start of a criminal case, the clients are desperate for relief and there may be a quick change of lawyers which can be quite disheartening. One has to be ready to face all these issues that can happen at any stage of ones career.

To become a successfulcriminal lawyer, one needs to be dedicated, willing to put in hard work, have tonnes of stamina and loads of perseverance. These four qualities and integrity are fundamental to a successful career in criminal law. People believe that criminal law involves limited drafting and that the workload is not heavy. But be it a trial strategy, a bail or a cross-examination, one has to put in long hours of research before work begins in court. If you are not dedicated to this profession, this may not be the right career for you.

Anyone who wants to become a successful criminal lawyer should do a masters degree in criminal law or criminology and also have a fair understanding of forensics - scientific tests or techniques used in connection with the detection of crime.

In short :
  • Complete a Bachelor's Degree Program- a bachelor's degree is the minimum educational requirement for admission to law school.
  • Pass the Law School Admission Test.
  • Identify Law Schools and Complete Applications.
  • Earn a Juris Doctor Degree.
  • Pass the Bar Examination.
  • Advance Your Career.

Hope this helps
All the best
