Hello.... I finished my 12th now i want to do bcom with Company Secretary(CS)..... Is the scope for CS good?

Arushi 29th Mar, 2019

Hi Sanjana,

Yes this is a really good option as a career scope. Mostly good companies prefer CS after graduation. But if somewhere you find CS difficult you can go for higher management studies like MBA or PGDM. That will also be a great option after your graduation in B.com field.

wish you good luck.

Can i pursue CS ( Company Secretary) with any UG Degree Simaltanously?

kashishjuneja2000_8032841 Student Expert 17th Feb, 2019

Hey

You can easily pursue CS with your undergraduate course. You just need to schedule the timings properly so that you can manage it. Also there are certain colleges which provide you with professional courses wherein the college itself makes you do these courses. One such example is Christ University. It has professional courses where in you can do ACCA Or cs altogether with your UG degree. But also the fee in this college is relatively high and is around 2.7 lakhs p.a. And also they will make you attend college from 6:30 in the morning to 4p.m. So choose wisely.

Shall i do company secretary after completion of 12th commerce

Nupur Sehji 16th Feb, 2019

Hello A. Swathi,

You are thinking for a wonderful career choice as  Company Secretary is high in demand as a corporate professional. The need and the role of the company secretaries have been increased with the advent of the new Companies Act 2013. Company Secretary has been recognized as Key Managerial Personnel along with the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director, whole-time director and Chief Financial Officer.

The role itself has evolved from being more an inward-focused role, to becoming much more outward-looking. A Company Secretary renders Corporate Governance and Secretarial services, something pivotal in the corporate sector today, and thus many job opportunities are available for qualifiled Company Secretaries.

A Company Secretary acts as a compliance officer for a company to ensure that all applicable laws and regulations are followed. He is also responsible for conducting board and shareholders meetings and also draft agreements on behalf of the company.

You should go for this professional course only if you have keen interest in studying corporate law. Though there are many subjects required to be studied by a CS Student including company laws, business laws, commercial laws, industrial laws, taxation, company accounts etc. but you should have good hold in theoretical learning and interest in legal research.

It is advisable that you do this course along side B.COM. as Company Secretary is a correspondence course in itself. You can complete B.Com. either from regular college or from open school. Go for Open school only if you are giving priority to your CS coaching classes. Most of the students opt  for correspondence course in B.Com and devote maximum time to CS classes. Examination  dates for both usually get clash but B.com. exams are always managable.

Following are the details to pursue CS course in India.
