Getting a top college for CSE branch at rank of 203352 in KCET is very difficult as CSE branch is very competitive and requires a rank much lower than yours. Your rank is above 2 lakhs and only few private colleges like SKSJT Bangalore or Dr. T Thimmaiah Institute Kolar.

Ranking 142892 student of SNQ category and sc category will get govt colleges seat for computer science

Samriddha Pal 13th Jul, 2025

Hello,

Holding a rank of 1,42,892 and being eligible for both the SNQ (Supernumerary Quota) and SC category means you have a chance of securing a government college seat for Computer Science Engineering, particularly in the subsequent rounds of KCET counselling in Karnataka.

The SC category enjoys substantial reservation, and the SNQ allocation offers tuition fee waivers for qualifying students in certain colleges. Although prestigious government institutions such as UVCE, RVCE, or BMSCE might be unattainable at this rank, you could still gain admission to government or aided colleges or regional engineering colleges with somewhat elevated closing ranks.

Attending all counselling rounds, such as extended and mop-up rounds, is crucial, along with making as many choices as you can. Monitoring cutoff trends and vacancy lists closely will assist you in making informed choices during seat allocation.

Hope this helps. All the best!

I am not written in jee and keam exams. But i need study btech computer science. Pls tell some solutions

gopi 9th Jul, 2025

Hello Vivek,

If you have not performed JEE or KEAM and still want to pursue B.Tech in Computer Science, don't worry there are still options:

  1. Direct Admission in Private Colleges: Private engineering colleges and deemed universities in India allow students to take admission based on 12th marks. So, look out for universities with good reputation and placements.
  2. Management Quota Seats: Some universities also reserve a few seats in management quota. You can go to the university directly, inquire about the slots reserved and fee structure.
  3. State Level Counselling: You will also be able to apply in your stage level counselling process (like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, etc.) where JEE/KEAM admission is not mandatory and students need to submit their 12th marks.
  4. Diploma to B.Tech (Lateral Entry): You have another option of completing a diploma in Computer Science and then join the B.Tech through lateral entry to second year through government entrance exams like LEET.
  5. Online B.Tech/Distance Education (for working professional): Some universities like UGC approved online B.Tech, this option is mostly for the working professionals.
