my son Devansh has scored 99.0681871 precentile in jee main attempt 1..he has chandigarh home state quota ..kindly tell about his scope in nit (cs)

kumardurgesh1802 23rd Feb, 2025

Hello there,

Congratulations to your son, Devansh, on achieving a 99.0681871 percentile in JEE Main Session 1. This percentile approximately corresponds to an All India Rank (AIR) around 14,800 .

With the Chandigarh home state quota , Devansh has a favorable position for securing a seat in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh . Historically, the closing ranks for CSE under the home state quota have been higher than his estimated rank. For instance, in 2023, the closing rank for CSE was 19,082 .

Given these trends, Devansh stands a strong chance of admission into the CSE program at PEC Chandigarh under the home state quota.

i got 150000 in jee mains with ews category. can i get a seat in VSSUT. what rank of jee mains get in cs branch in VSSUT for ews category.

Prachi Kumari 19th Feb, 2025

Hello,

Based on previous years' data , securing a seat in the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) under the EWS category typically requires a JEE Main rank within the following ranges:

  • Gender-neutral candidates : up to approximately 52,946
  • Female-only candidates : up to approximately 64,066

With a JEE Main rank of 150,000, admission to the CSE branch at VSSUT under the EWS category appears unlikely. However, you may consider other engineering branches at VSSUT with higher cutoff ranks or explore similar institutions where your rank meets the admission criteria.

You can use the JEE main College Predictor tool to predict which college you can get based on your score.

Hope you find it useful !

My daughter got 76.75 percentile in JEE Main session1. out quota is SC. I want to know for CS or ECE if we can get seat in any of the NIT or GFTIs. Our home station is Karnataka

Poral Siddartha (siddu) 19th Feb, 2025

With a 76.75 percentile in JEE Main (SC category, Karnataka home state), getting CSE or ECE at top NITs (like NIT Surathkal) is difficult since past SC cutoffs for these branches were much lower in rank.

However, your daughter may have a chance in other NITs, GFTIs, or different engineering branches. Consider:

1. JoSAA counseling for available options.

2. State engineering colleges for better chances.

3. Other branches like Civil, Chemical, or Metallurgy with lower cutoffs.

Final admission depends on cutoffs, rank trends, and seat availability.

My daughter passed 10 2 with PCBM SUBJECTS WITH 80%OF MARKS AND 60PERCENTILE IN JEE 1ST ATTEMP. WHEATHER SHE GET ADMISSION IN CS BRANCH ?

aashi singh 22nd Feb, 2025

Hi there!

Your daughter has achieved a decent percentage in her class 12 exam but her performance in JEE Mains is not that good. Sadly, most government colleges consider JEE scores for offering admission to students into various programs. Hence, it might not be possible for her to get admission to such institutes with only 60 percentile.

However, she can still get admission to renowned private institutions like Geeta University . This reputed private university located in Delhi NCR offers new-age B.Tech. programs that focus on preparing the students for a successful career in the ever-evolving IT sector.

The university offers specializations in areas like AIML, Cyber Security, Data Sciences, & FSWD, which are much in demand. It also provides skill certifications and training programs from industry leaders like Microsoft, Cisco, Amazon, and many more.

The best thing is that your daughter's percentage in 10+2 makes her eligible for a decent scholarship on tuition fees. She can even increase the scholarship amount to get 100% off on tuition fees by taking the GUTS exam and performing exceptionally in it.

The university is also known for offering great placement training and support to help students kickstart their careers. It has strong industry tie-ups which enable students to get good internship opportunities across different sectors in well-known organizations.

I hope this information helps you choose the right college for your daughter.

can i get any good branch in nsut / dtu/iiitd or any other govt colleges of delhi ? i have scored 80 percentile in jee mains 1,female, and i have defense quota priority 6 outside delhi? also tell least % req. to secure a seat in these colleges in core branches such as cs. suggest other govt collegs

kumardurgesh1802 16th Feb, 2025

Hello there,

With 80 percentile (female, defense quota priority 6, outside Delhi), chances for NSUT, DTU, and IIITD in core branches are low as cutoffs are 95+ percentile.

Options :

  • NSUT/DTU/IIITD: Possible for lower branches under defense quota.
  • IGDTUW (for females): Chance for ECE/IT.
  • Other Govt Colleges: Consider IIITs (Bhagalpur, Bhopal, etc.), state colleges, or GFTIs.

    Required Percentile for Core Branches:
  • NSUT/DTU/IIITD (CSE, IT, ECE): 98+ percentile
  • IGDTUW (IT, CSE): 95+ percentile
  • Lower branches in NSUT/DTU: 90+ with defense quota

Try improving in JEE Mains Session 2 for better chances.

I havent attempted cuet, jam, or gate. However I want to pursue Msc Data Science. I am a Bsc CS final year student. Please recommend universities, colleges and institutes that I should apply to for the best possible outcome.

sadafreen356 14th Feb, 2025

If you haven't taken CUET, JAM, or GATE but still want to pursue an MSc in Data Science , consider applying to universities and colleges that offer admission based on your B.Sc. CS marks and may conduct their own entrance exams or interviews. Here are a few options to explore:

Central Universities:

Delhi University:

Offers MSc in Computer Science with a Data Science specialization, admissions are based on merit in your B.Sc. marks.

Jadavpur University:

Provides MSc in Data Science, with potential for admission based on merit and an interview.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU):

Offers MSc in Computer Science with a Data Science specialization, consider checking their admission criteria.

Private Universities:

Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT): Has a dedicated MSc in Data Science program with flexible admission criteria.

Christ University, Bangalore: Offers MSc in Data Science with a good reputation, check their admission process.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham: Provides MSc in Data Science, consider their merit-based admission.

State Universities:

University of Hyderabad:

Offers MSc in Computer Science with a focus on Data Science, check specific program details.

University of Pune:

Provides MSc in Computer Science with Data Science specialization, inquire about their admission process.

University of Madras:

Consider their MSc in Computer Science program for potential Data Science focus.

Important Points to Consider:

Check individual university websites:

Each institution has its own admission criteria, so carefully review their eligibility requirements and application process.

Contact the admissions office:

Reach out to the universities you are interested in to inquire about their admission process and if they offer any alternative pathways for admission without entrance exams.

Focus on your B.Sc. performance:

Ensure you have a strong academic record in your B.Sc. CS to enhance your application.

Highlight relevant skills:

Emphasize any data science skills you have acquired through projects, internships, or online courses in your application.

Prepare for potential interviews:

Some universities may conduct personal interviews as part of the admission process.

GOOD LUCK!!!

my sister has 90.4 percentile general sc+female any nit cs?

kumardurgesh1802 12th Feb, 2025

Hello there,

With 90.4 percentile , SC category , and female reservation , your sister has a good chance of getting a CS-related branch in some lower NITs . However, NIT CS (core) might be tough due to high competition.

Possible Options:

  1. NIT Mizoram – CSE
  2. NIT Nagaland – CSE
  3. NIT Arunachal Pradesh – CSE
  4. NIT Sikkim – CSE
  5. NIT Puducherry – CS-related branches (like IT or Data Science)

For better NITs , she can try for:

  • NIT Jalandhar, NIT Patna, NIT Raipur – Other CS-related branches (like IT or AI & DS)

If she aims for a better NIT or CS branch , she should try JEE Mains April attempt to improve her percentile.

I would recommend you to use JEE Mains College Predictor Tool by Careers360 to get the list of possible colleges you can get with your rank or percentile.

Msc ai and ml from christ banglore or msc cs with ai from cusat(cohin university of science and technology. which is better?

Prachi Kumari 12th Feb, 2025

Hello,

Christ University Bangalore is better for industry exposure because it is in the AI hub of India. It has strong placements and an updated curriculum focused on AI and ML applications. However, the fees are higher, and it is more industry-oriented than research-focused.

CUSAT is a government university with lower fees and a strong research focus. It is better if you are interested in deep research and academics. Placements may not be as strong as Christ University, but the course structure is solid.

If you want jobs in AI/ML quickly, choose Christ. If you prefer research, choose CUSAT.

Hope it helps !

Hello,

Yes, shifting from BSc IT to BSc CS and starting over is possible, but it depends on the university or college policies . Here are some key points:

  1. Eligibility – Check if you meet the admission criteria for BSc CS, as some colleges may have different subject requirements.
  2. University/College Policy – Some institutions allow transfers, while others require fresh admission.
  3. Academic Impact – You may need to restart from the first year, leading to extra time and expenses.
  4. Admission Process – You might have to apply again through merit or entrance exams.
  5. Approval Required – Seek guidance from your college administration.
