should i read newspaper for wbcs? if yes then which newspaper should i read and which section? for Current Affairs, achievers or pratiyogita darpan which is better? Is 6 months current affairs enough before exam?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 27th Jul, 2020

hi,

reading news papers is a really good choice to gain your knowledges of current affairs, now coming to wbcs exam it would be best if you have idea of last 1 year current affairs. you may study bankars adda magazine, also pratiyogita darpan is a good option. also you may follow last year papers of wbcs and ssc exams current years gk questions. I would recommend times of India, since it has better upto date information. however you may also read regional papers.

wbcs is one of the toughest exam , every year numerous students apply for the exam, so beside study you must practice a lot. it would be best if you follow a daily routine and manage your studies on schedule.

best of luck for your future endeavor.

If I am giving the exam in 2021 then should I start the current affairs after the exam of 2020? As most of the sites refer to current affairs from may!

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 7th Jul, 2020

Hey!

As you have not mentioned the name of exam, so generally current affairs section includes the questions are from the data after the last exam. So, most preferably you should prepare current affairs after the exam of 2020. Also, based on the stream for which you are applying, you must gain some technical knowledge for that also.

Hope it helps.

Thank you

How much Current Affairs should I study for CLAT 2020?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 6th Jul, 2020

Current Affairs including General Knowledge: You will be given passages of upto 450 words and these passages are usually taken from News, Journalistic sources and nonfiction writing. The questions may include legal information or knowledge but do not need any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage. This sections requires you to demonstrate knowledge of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge including Contemporary events of significance at National and International Level, Arts and Culture, International Affairs and Historical Events. Please go as back dated as atleast January, the beginning of this year. Most publications will have updated current affairs since the last time the exam has been conducted. Even that is fine. You do not want to miss out on topics that might have been important.

In the clat paper, the current affairs of how many months are generally asked?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 17th Jun, 2020

You should go back  atleast by 1 year for Current Affairs because usually that is the usual norm. Most Appointments, awards happen once in a year. And we will have new recipients and new appointees from the last year. Though the International and National affairs move at a faster pace, we would still recommend you to go back upto atleast 12 months. Any legal amendments or laws that have been changed or brought into action should be of your interest. Sports, Politics, Arts, Climatic changes, etc should be our focus. Read Manorama Year book and the News Paper should be the best source of information for this. There might be a question or 2 about Article 371 for example, though it started around August last year.

How to prepare GK or Current affairs? (AILET {BA LLB})

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 11th Jun, 2020
It is always better to read newspaper for CURRENT G.K. than trying to grasp all info at once. Some of the newspaper sources which you can use to prepare this section are The Hindu, Financial Express, and The Economist.

In case, you dont like reading newspaper daily, you can go with Manorama Yearbook or Current Affairs Yearly by Arihant for General Knowledge which is published every year.

In order to prepare for STATIC G.K. section, you need to broaden your overall scope in following sections: Sports, Politics, Entertainment, Biographies, etc. So, for this, you can use Static General Knowledge by A.P. Bhardwaj and S. Chands Advanced Objective General Knowledge. These books are okay to start with if you are not someone with a newspaper reading habit from the past.

There are plenty of other books for these topics in the market, but these are by far the most popular as well as helpful books for anyone preparing for entrance exams

2 questions:- 1.Can you tell whether, it is important to memorize articles/ sections numbers with their definitions for CLAT or not ? Can we just attempt with the simple concept clarification? 2. Generally from how long does the Current affairs questions are asked in CLAT ?

S. Saha Student Expert 14th Jun, 2020

It is not important to remember all the articles or sections, rather it is not possible to remember all of them. Just learn few basic articles for fundamental rights, the Fundamental Duties of every citizen, the number of seats for the Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha, try reading articles 12-18. All these will give you a general idea. For Current Affairs, you must read newspaper of at least 6 months old and social articles, blogs, Journals and try to update yourself with current general knowledge in political, social and cultural scenario.
