Why drdo not recruit chemical engineer through gate 2018?

Sreeraj P 13th Jun, 2018

Hi Mayursinh Rajput.

Recruitment to any organization or PSU or Company is based on the available vacancies, and the qualifications required. So, at present, in DRDO, the posts that require Chemical engineering degree won't be vacant. That can be the reason why DRDO is not recruiting a chemical engineer through GATE 2018.

Thanks.

Can i get opportunities to get admitted in DRDO , ISRO or NASA by taking mechanical engineering

Vanam Nikhil 5th Jun, 2018

Hello sir..

Since you have asked about ISRO, I am assuming you are an Indian national(a mandatory criteria for a job at ISRO). ISRO conducts yearly examinations for the post of Scientists/Engineer in the Electronics,Mechanical and Computer Science domain. Check out this page for notifications- Careers - ISRO . The application deadline for 2016 recruitment(May 25,2016) just passed by.

ISRO also provides you with past years’ question papers for preparation. Check them out over here : CENTRALISED RECRUITMENT TO THE POST OF SCIENTIST/ENGINEER 'SC' IN THE DISCIPLINES OF ELECTRONICS, MECHANICAL AND COMPUTER SCIENCE

As for NASA , here also, there is a citizenship mandate(you have to be a U.S. citizen). However, this can be waived off for exceptionally valuable candidates. Check out the pages(10–13) from the below link in succession. It guides you through the educational and professional requirements you need to possess to be a successful hire - NASAJobs

A mechanical engineering degree is highly beneficial if you want to get into Space Technology. So, All the best ! :)

Aeronautical engineering or aerospace engineering is more better and have good job opportunities in ISRO and DRDO

Chinmay Joshi 11th May, 2018

Hello Anand,

First let us understand the difference between the above two streams.

Aeronautical engineering is a study about the design and systems of an aircraft. It involves practical and theoretical understanding of materials, assembling parts, testing and maintenance of aircrafts. Professional engineers working in this domain have to be licensed aeronautical engineers. The course also enables students to attain knowledge of advanced technology used in aircrafts travelling in outer space. Aeronautical engineering also covers disciplines like aerodynamics, avionics and propulsion among others. Students pursuing aeronautical engineering can explore opportunities in defence organisations, government research centres, aircraft manufacturing organisations and ISRO.

Aerospace engineering is the primary field of engineering concerned with the development of aircraft and spacecraft. It has two major and overlapping branches: Aeronautical engineering and Astronautical Engineering.

This indiactes that Aeronautical Engineering is actually a subset of Aersopace engineering. If you opt for Astronautical Engineering, a job in ISRO would be more favourable but if you opt for Aeronautical Engineering, a job in DRDO or HAL will be a better option.

Hope this finds you well!

Thank you!

In which sectors female student can work in DRDO,ISRO and BARC ?

Ankit raj 19th Mar, 2018

Women have been steadily rising in power in India’s defence research sector. From the most prominent Agni missile project to manning human resources, women have surged ahead in a sector that was dominated for long by men.

If Tessy Thomas shot to popularity as the ‘Agni Putri’, or Missile Woman, after the successful launch of the long distance Agni-4 missile in 2011, nearly a dozen women today drive projects — from those of strategic importance to taking care of planning and coordination — at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Beginning in 2010, when Shashi Bala Singh became the first woman to be appointed director of a major national defence laboratory — Defence Institute for Physiology and Applied Sciences (DIPAS) — women have silently and successfully grabbed key positions in the defence sector.

At present, four Director General (a dozen in DRDO), five directors of laboratories (network of more than 52 labs) and a couple of project director positions are held by women, according to information available.
