what is the minimum salary for vertinery doctor

Ketaki Dhotre Student Expert 22nd Jun, 2022

Dear,

In Govt. Sector, majority of the posts for Veterinary doctors belong to Group A (Class 1) and some of the posts to Group B (Class 2). So, for Group A, present pay scale of 7th CPC lies at Level 10 which is 56100 basic salary. Adding current (May 2019) DA, TA & HRA it goes around 68000 per month (HRA depends upon the type of city).

For scientists and Assistant professor posts, grade pay (earlier system) is higher. Presently they fall in Level 10 (Research pay/Academic pay 6000) of 7th CPC. So average salary for them goes up to 80000 per month. For Group B, it roughly goes around 52000 per month.

Govt. Salary will increase annually at the rate of 3% of basic salary. Also DA may change (increase) when the government announces so. In private sector, it is highly variable. On an average, starting salary of a Veterinary graduate (only B.V.Sc. & A.H.) is around 25K–35K. For post graduate (M.V.Sc.) Veterinarians, starting salary is around 40K–50K.

However, growth in salary may go faster in private sector provided your knowledge and performance is superior.

Hope this helps!
