how much years it will take to become a doctor after 10th

Shivam Gupta 2nd Jan, 2022

Hey Aspirant,

Hope you are doing great,

After completing the 10th from Medical stream, it would take  anywhere from 5.5 to 12 years.

MBBS takes 5.5 years to complete, then you do your postgraduate studies, which take another 3 years, and if you want to do specialization, it will take another 3 years, for a total of 12 years. Some people want to go a step further and do a one-year fellowship after their super specialization.

But this is not an ideal world competition is fierce and seats are limited, so everyone must take a one-year break to prepare for entrance exams at each stage.

If you attend a government medical college, you will begin earning money right after your MBBS, during your internship, ranging from $8k to $19k, depending on the state. If you attend a private medical school, you will not receive a stipend for your internship.

The same is true for your postgraduate studies; if you attend a government college, your stipend can range from 70k to 22k.

If you decide to become a Junior Resident or a CMO after completing your MBBS, you will be paid between 70k and 1lakh. However, it varies by state.

how can i become a doctor after my bsc.chem??

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 28th Dec, 2021

Hi

To become a doctor, you need to do mbbs, ( in case,if you want to become a dentist then you need to do BDS, BHMS to become a homeopathic doctor, BAMS  to become Ayurvedic doctor ,BVSc to become a veterinarian ).

Admission in all the medical colleges for Mbbs/ bds / bams etc is through NEET examination on the basis of qualification of 10+2, so even though you have done bsc chemistry, it won't help you  when it comes to doing mbbs etc and y ou will have to take the same route of qualifying neet as of that of class 12th student.

Here's how you can do mbbs and thus become a doctor.

------------------) Appear in Neet examination

  • To be eligible one must pass 12th board examination with physics, chemistry ,biology/biotechnology and English and must have got at least  50  % in aggregate of PCB  i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology /biotechnology in 12th examination  if belongs to general category , or   at least  40%  in aggregate of PCB if belongs to  Obc/ Sc /st category. Also, needs to be at least 17 years old as on 31st December of the year of appearing for neet. No age limit is there as of now. You can get complete eligibility criteria details at https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-eligibility-criteria

------------------) Qualify neet examination. Qualifying cut off in neet is given below

  • General :- 50th Percentile

  • OBC:-  40th Percentile

  • SC :-40th Percentile

  • ST :-  40th percentile

To be on the safer side, out of 720 marks, target at least around 575 - 625 marks for state quota mbbs seats and 650 marks in neet for All india quota mbbs seats if you belong to general category to get a seat in a Government Medical College

------------------) Participate in neet counselling. There are 2 counsellings -

  • Mcc counselling :- It is conducted for 15% AIQ seats, 100% Deemed Universities seats, Central Universities  seats (Delhi University, AMU & BHU ), 100% ESIC seats , AFMC  seats (only Registration Part) & I.P University (VMMC & SJH AND ABVIMS & RML & ESIC Dental, Delhi ,100% AIIMS seats & 100% JIPMER seats

Detailed information about counselling is available at

https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/neet-seat-allotment

------------------) In the counselling, you can get a seat in a college on the basis of your rank in NEET examination and the category you belong to .

------------------) Then you have to report to the college and get your documents verified.

------------------)  After document verification, finally you get admission in mbbs in college

------------------)  Pursue your mbbs which is a 5.5 year long course in which the last 1 year consists of internship and after the completion of mbbs you become a doctor and can practice.

sir i got 13595 in ap eapcet. ...is there any chances in getting angrau for agbsc...... another 1 Q is please give the best and top-rated doctor of pharmacy colleges in ap regarding my rank

Sumedha Bhattacharya 26th Dec, 2021

Dear Student ,

With your AP EAPCET score , you have tough chances to get admission in ANGRAU for B.Sc in agricultural course based on previous few year's cut off trends .

As you haven't mentioned your caste , so I'm assuming that you are from OPEN category.

The cut off details for OPEN category in 2019 AP EAPCET was as follows :

  • 1852-UR
  • 4667- AU Region
  • 3369- SVU region

But you need to remember that , the cut off may change each year due to some important factors like seat capacity , difficulty level of exam etc.

check more about cut off details in AP EAMCET from this link:

Hope this helps !
