hello . I am a non maths student but interersted to pursue economics in my college is it worthful or should I apply for psychology hons

Deepti Singh 17th Oct, 2024

Hello,

The choice between economics and psychology is primarily based on your interests, hence career objectives.

Economics is flexible and informing for finance, markets, and public policy. Many colleges offer Economics programs which do not require a math background since they are more theory based and applied economics with less advanced mathematics involved. It can lead to careers in banking, policy-making, consulting, and market analysis, but math might become important in advanced economics courses, so it is something to consider for future studies.

Psychology explores how humans act or is concerned about the mental health of humans. If you realize that you are interested in how people think or how they behave, then you may enjoy a career in therapy, counseling, HR, or research; Psychology is the way to go.

Both fields have rather diverse career paths, but if you tend to be more analytical and concerned with the impact of how things go into society's well-being, then Economics might turn out to be something more worthwhile. Psychology would make perfect sense in understanding what happens within an individual and the mental processes.

i want to persue ba(hons) psychology or sociology. What subjects should i chose for cuet. The subjects i have are History, English Elective, Psychology, Economics, Entrepreneurship (CBSE). And should i prepare for the general paper too?

sadafreen356 16th Oct, 2024

To pursue a BA(Hons) in Psychology or Sociology through CUET, you should choose "Psychology" and "Sociology" as your domain subjects in Section II of the exam; alongside a language like English or Hindi from Section IA you can take one of them go for English as you have one of the subject in your 12th CBSE and the General Test from Section III is compulsory for everyone so you need to appear for that too.to sum up you have to appear for 3 sections psychology, english and general knowledge.

Hope u understand..

Hello aspirant,

First of all Don't panic! It's completely understandable to feel anxious and unsure about your future, especially during this crucial time.

I am providing you some steps that you can take to address your situation:

  1. Focus on the Present: While it's important to think about the future, right now, your primary focus should be on your final exams. Do your best to prepare and study effectively.
  2. Explore Alternatives: Even if you don't pass, there are many options available to you. Consider these possibilities:
    • Retake the Exams: If you're confident in your ability to improve, retaking the exams might be a viable option.
    • Bridge Courses: Many institutions offer bridge courses that can help you catch up on missed coursework and prepare for further studies.
    • Diploma Programs: Explore diploma programs in related fields that might accept you based on your previous education.
    • Work Experience: Gaining work experience in a related field can be valuable, even if you don't have a degree.
  3. Seek Guidance: Talk to your professors, academic advisor, or a career counselor. They can provide you with personalized advice and support.
  4. Explore Other Options: If you're not interested in pursuing economics further, consider other fields that might align with your interests and skills.

I hope this helps you.
