can I become a entrepreneurvafter studying economist

Harish Jayaraj 9th Oct, 2020

hi priyanka.

yes, you can be an entrepreneur with a economics degree. You would make a better entrepreneur than the others because, you have the knowledge on the subjects like, understanding markets, data analysis and marketing. As an economist you will have a better understanding on the subjects like statistics and data managing, which evidently is the heart of successful entrepreneurship.

you can have employers under you to develop certain areas in your company which require support of an expert from other areas like engineers, marketing managers and the other workers.

so, with an economics degree, you stand a very good chance to shine in that field. Hope i answered your question.

feel free to ask doubts if any in the comments.

Good Luck

What are my chances of getting a call and converting a call in a AAA+ B School?

Bikash Student Expert 6th Apr, 2019

You have a good academic profile, although your undergrad CGPA is relatively low. But your internship and other activities are good enough to cover up for the same. You will come across a lot of people discouraged you saying that you don't stand a chance. But please turn a deaf ear to such people and focus on your preparations. Make sure you score the maximum possible percentile in your entrances and I am sure doing this defiidefin help you secure calls from top notch B schools of the country.

what are the courses wants to study for economist and what is it procedures ?

samra raza 26th Jan, 2019

Hello Aspirant,

Delight to know you want to be an economist. A great choice of career.  Now coming back to your question. Dear Tan JN, you can be an economist by acquiring a Phd degree in economics or at least a master's degree in the same subject. Most Government jobs positions are filled with people who have acquired a phD in economics while there many other jobs like that of consultant where you just need to get a master's degree.

If you are in 12th then you should go BA honours in economics so that you have a strong base from the beginning and then master's in the same subject and PhD in any topic of ecoomics after which you can apply to the economists job in government sector.

Hope it helps.

All the best :)

My best wishes for your future and upcoming exams.
Regards,
Nafisa.

Nitheesh Yennampelly Student Expert 14th Oct, 2018

Hey Chandan,

you need to take a study programs or course related to economics. You should be passionate about economics and its related issues. Try to be analytic on problems of micro and macroeconomics. Your assumption need to be presumably analyzed and based on the study of certain institutions or a country. You to need study a lot and research more before you make you comments on certain issue

the follwoing are the job opportunities to join as Economist , Join the government economic service (GES). That basically means you work for the civil service, as a junior economis. Become an academic. To do this, you will need to look for teaching or research posts at various universities
