Electrical Engineering
You got 87.41 percentile in MHT-CET 2025 and you want to take admission in B.Tech Electrical Engineering at COEP Technological University, Pune. You are from Chhattisgarh but you also have a caste certificate from Maharashtra.
Now, to get admission in COEP through MHT-CET, you need to be a Maharashtra state candidate. Just having a caste certificate of Maharashtra is not enough. You must also show that you live in Maharashtra or have a domicile certificate of Maharashtra. Otherwise, you will be treated as an All India candidate, and for that COEP only accepts JEE Main score, not MHT-CET.
Electrical Engineering branch at COEP is very competitive. For this branch, the closing percentile is usually above 98 or 99 percentile even for OBC category. Your score is 87.41 percentile, which is much lower than the required cutoff. So, based on this score, you cannot get a seat in Electrical Engineering at COEP.
Even for other branches like Mechanical or Civil, the cutoff stays above 97 percentile. So with 87.41 percentile, it is not possible to get admission in COEP.
You should try for other good colleges in Maharashtra or nearby states where the cutoff is lower and admission is possible with your score.

Yes, there are part time courses in distance diploma in electrical Engineering. both courses are available to working people in Government service. Such programs are aimed at a person's interest in the advancement of their qualification and at the same time doing the job.
There are opportunities of pursuing part time diplomas at State Technical Education Boards, at Polytechnic College approved by AICTE, or through institutions such as IGNOU and NIELIT through which the learning mode offers flexibility. Evening or weekend classes are also offered in the same college and in a particular case horizontal entry is also provided to the people having previous technical experience or education.
It normally requires a 10th or 12th pass, although it will also depends on the institute. When you are applying do check with AICTE or a technical board acceptable course and the are course details such as years of duration, mode of study (offline or online) and certification.
Hello Aspirant,
Yes, part-time diploma courses in Electrical Engineering are available for government employees or working professionals. These are usually offered as Part-Time (Evening) Diplomas or Distance Learning Diplomas by State Technical Boards or recognized institutes. For example:
IETE (Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers)
IGNOU (for some related technical programs)
Some AICTE-approved private polytechnics offer part-time diploma courses for working professionals
Eligibility usually requires 10th pass and proof of employment.
All the best for your career growth.
HELLO,
To get admission in electrical engineering you generally required a strong background in Science stream particularly you must have studied subjects like physics, chemistry and mathematics in 12th grade .
You have to appear for entrance exams like JEE MAIN,JEE ADVANCED,or state level exams such as TS EAMCET or AP EAMCET.
Some colleges may offers direct admissions based on merit but this option is less common
Admission process
1.You need to register for the entrance exams and counselling based on the schedules provide by the exam conducting bodies.
2 .College will release merit list based on your exam score
3.Seat will be alloted based on your rank , category or choice.
4.After seat allotment you need verify your documents
5.Finally pay the required fees to confirm your admission

Choosing Electrical Engineering (EE) over Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at PMEC (Parala Maharaja Engineering College, Berhampur, Odisha) depends on your interests, goals, and the college's strengths in each department. Some factor may affect your decision like the Placement are better in CSE department than EE. Faculty and the lab infrastructure of CSE is good and improving with time but of EE established, strong in core. The demand and scope of CSE is High in IT/software industry and EE demands in Core + Govt. jobs potential. If you want to have a career in Govt. jobs then EE may be helpful. IF you want to go for higher studies then M.Tech, MBA, MS, Data Science, AI, etc. can be a option after B.Tech in CSE and GATE, PSU, M.Tech in EE, Power, Control, etc. are the options after B.Tech in EE.
CSE generally has better placement stats, even if the infrastructure is average because tech companies hire in bulk across India.
EE is a good long-term choice if you're focused, disciplined, and okay with working in core sectors or higher studies .
Choosing Electrical Engineering (EE) rather than Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at PMEC is about your interests and eventual career goals. If you are famous for your core engineering studies, power systems, and electronics, and see yourself working in the PSU government sector (GATE-based starters), EE is a safe option for you. On the other hand, if you are leaning towards CSE, overall, CSE placements have better packages and opportunities in the anticipated private sector, IT, or software after graduation.
Overall, at PMEC, CSE placements appear to have many more opportunities, than EE placements. There are many valuable opportunities in EE. However, if you are more comfortable with hardware, control systems, or simply want to explore your potential for IES/GATE, I personally would endorse exploring options in EE.
Hey student! So when you're choosing between Electrical Engineering (EE) and Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at PMEC (Parala Maharaja Engineering College), it really depends on what you're looking for long term.
CSE generally has better placement opportunities across most colleges, including PMEC, because the demand for software jobs is higher and growing fast. If you're into programming, tech, and are okay with a desk job or coding-based work, CSE is a good pick. You'll probably have access to more internship opportunities and even off-campus placements.
On the other hand, EE at PMEC is also a solid department, but the job opportunities right after graduation might not be as many compared to CSE. Core electrical jobs often require further study or preparing for competitive exams like GATE. However, if you’re interested in hardware, energy, electronics, or public sector jobs, EE could be a strong choice.
So, if placements and immediate job opportunities are your priority, CSE is usually the safer option. But if you're more passionate about electrical concepts and open to future exams or higher studies, EE can be worth it too.
Both are excellent choices, but if you are inclined to words software or tech industry , NIT Trichy ECE has a slight edge. If you are more interested in core engineering research or IIT prestige, then IITRopar EE is the best.
With a 489 rank in CG PET 2025 under the General category you have a very good chance of getting CSE at BIT Durg. Historically CSE has closed at about 700-800 under General category, so you will be well within the typical cutoff range. Electrical Engineering at BIT Durg is also a good branch. The department has good faculty and labs. While placements in core EE are not as many compared to CSE, many EE students got good placement in IT/software roles on campus. If you have an interest in electronics, power systems or want to prepare for competitive exams like GATE or PSU jobs then EE is a good option.
