Im in 12th class and preparing for jee23, deeply depressed because of chem, I didnt studied chemistry properly in 10th and 11th, from what should i start now ,how can i cover ? in my coaching sir started the first chapter 3 months ago (electrochemistry) and now he is teaching goc

Vishwathiga J 25th Jul, 2022

Dear aspirant,

Yes, you can cover the syllabus if you start now, provided that you ready to work hard.

1. Organic chemistry is a new topic for almost everyone, so focus on what your class is doing. Do GOC along with them. It is an important chapter, practice it from OP Tandon and learn organic really well.

2. Focus on inorganic chemistry, there are not a lot of concepts there so finish it from NCERT textbook.

3. For physical chemistry, start doing it now along with organic. Use  NCERT to do mole concepts and then move on to P Bahadur book. Spend some time with physical chemistry everyday. Solve the previous year questions along with every topic. Do it in order so that it'll be easy for you to understand.

4. Don't hesitate to ask doubts even though if it's on topics that are not being taught at the moment.

If you work hard, you can score well in chemistry.

Hope this helps.

what is meant by electrochemistry

Shakti Swarupa Bhanja 23rd Dec, 2020

Hello!

Electrochemistry is an important part of physical chemistry. This branch deals with the chemical reactions caused by electricity and vice versa. It is mainly the study of chemical processes that cause electrons to move. And the movement of electrons is called electricity.

It has a number of different uses, particularly in industry. The principles of cells are used to make electrical batteries.

Hope this helps!

what is the electrochemical series?

anirudha vats 30th Oct, 2020

Electrochemical series is an arrangement of element on the basis of their increasing electrode potential. The electrode potential is measured comparatively against the hydrogen electrode.

The Hydrogen electrode is taken as a standard electrode against which the electrode potential of any element is measured.

Hope that clears your doubt.

Thank you.

Could you provide me any books or any other link for studying and solving problems on the following topics, TITRATIONS, schrodinger wave equation, STRENGTH OF OLEUM, electrochemistry, Aromatisation of alkane,PPM&HARDNESS, Density and point defects problems in solid state. For jeemain.

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 14th Jun, 2020

These are the books that are recommended for Chemistry for all topics for JEE Mains.

NCERT Books

Modern Approach to Chemical Calculations by R.C Mukherjee

Organic Chemistry by OP Tandon

Concept of Physical Chemistry by P Bahadur

Concise Inorganic Chemistry by J D Lee

Physical Chemistry by P.W Atkins

Organic Chemistry by Morrison and Boyd

But instead of buying different books for each topic, you can rather as well try our Knockout package which has all the required information, videos and concept videos for each topic separately. It also has sample papers as back as 17 years. You can check that at: https://learn.careers360.com/knockout-jee-main-april/

for a cell reaction 2Fe3+ +2I- --------> 2Fe2+ +I2 E=0.24 V at 298K. The standard Gibbs energy of the cell reaction is? (F= 96500 C/mol) a) 23.16kJ/mol. B) -46.32kJ/mol c) -23.16kJ/mol. D) 46.32kJ/mol

Ayush Mishra 16th Jan, 2020

Hey Syed!

The answer to your question is b) ie -46.32 kj/mol. The solution to the answer can be explained as follows:-

We have E°= 0.24 V

F= 96500 C/mol

and by writing the reduction reactions at two half cells occurring as follows  2Fe3+  +   2e-    =  2 Fe2+

and                                       I2          +2e-     = 2I-

We get the value of n= 2 ( no. of electrons involved in reduction and oxidation of species in two half cells)

Now, we know that Standard Gibbs Free energy, G= -nFE°

PUTTING THE VALUES OBTAINED, G= -2×96500×0.24 ====>  46.32 kj

about chapter electrochemistry

Nithesh 5th Dec, 2019

Hello saawan !!

Electrochemistry is the branch of chemistry ,studies of electricity and how it relates to the chemical reactions.Generally,study of production of electricity from the energy that is released during spontaneous  chemical reaction and the use of electrical energy to bring about Non spontaneous  chemical transformation . Electrochemistry is used in various fields and industries.Better example for this is a battery cell,a device that stores chemical energy and available as electrical form.I hope this information helps you a little bit.Thank you!!
