Both branches are a little similar and interesting. It certainly doesn't make much difference in terms of job and career if you are in a good IIT or NIT. EIE is very theory based subject. The core subjects of measurement and instruments are nearly completely theoretical but very interesting. The control part subject is mathematical as well as concept based.
Honestly, ECE is more popular branch than EIE. Most of the times ECE is the most favorable stream among the core branches. The highest placement every time is from the tech branches, and after that ECE gives highest placement in core companies and sometimes in tech companies too.
But EIE also has a growing scope in India. EIE mostly deals with the manufacturing and more detailed understanding of the functioning while ECE basically focuses more on the transmission and communication.
As you are in NIT Agartala, which is a very good college, your placement from either of the branches won't be much different. So you should decide you branch to choose on the basis of your interests.
If you choose EIE :
PRO'S
Properly take your time and decide.
Hope this helps you.
Dear aspirant,
Hope you secured a good rank in JEE mains. The institutions you have mentioned were counted as one of the good institutions for engineering courses.
Talking about the placements in the following colleges,
IIEST SHIBPUR

The highest package was offered by Microsoft (39 LPA) for 6 students, and the lowest package was offered by some of the mass recruiters like Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, etc., of 3.6 LPA. The average package was somewhere around 6 LPA. The top recruiting companies were Microsoft, Texas Instruments, PWC, ZS Associates etc. More than 50% of students grab internships in good companies like PWC, Microsoft, Texas etc. Some of the major roles offered are system engineer, VLSI design engineer, data scientist etc.

Electronics and communication engineering
OBC-NCL (HS)
Opening rank - 2286

First think of the curriculum that you wish to study, between Computer Science Engineering or Electronics and Electrical Engineering if you think of the recent trends, CSE will give you better placements. Now among the different Colleges selected by you all of them have pretty good infrastructure and we'll equipped labs and experienced faculties but considering the placement records, PES University is the better one with Median Salary Packages 4-7 LPA.
Good luck !! Know more about this University
