The exam pattern is as follows, notwithstanding the lack of a fixed syllabus. All Ph.D. programme question papers will be divided into two sections. Similarly, the Ph.D. English test will be divided into two parts. Part A is made up of 50 questions that are based on research methodology and include English, general knowledge, and numerical ability. Part B consists of 50 questions from the Masters level of English.

BA in English is about grammar and how you can use parts of speech Basically it teaches about the technicality of the language & how English literature is a part of the subject and you will learn about the origin of the language epics drama play that generally gives you a piece of info about the era of the century
There are plenty of career prospects and job opportunities for both BA in English and BA in Literature are
Business Management & Finance
Govt Services
Marketing and advertising
If youre interested in the field of media then you can opt for media & mass communication
If you take up masters in Journalism then you can get jobs as editors reporters
On the BA English level you can also get jobs in primary and high schools as teachers
But if youre proficient in BA English literature then you can work as professors and lectures in colleges and universities

The syllabus for entrance examination for MA english literature is not same for all universities but it is similar. The subjects based on which the exam will be held are listed below
History of English literature is a very prominent subject along with grammar. I would suggest that you refer books like 'history of English literature by Edward Albert '. You have not mentioned the university you want admission in. Bachelor's of arts if offered by many universities all over India. It will be helpful if you specify the question.
Though, English literature is a part of BA course. This subject is included in almost all programmes. Some of the study material like notes, readings etc are provided by the college, rest you can issue from library if available or simply purchase the referred books.
To know about the fees, kindly mention the university.

M.A English is basically a 2-year post-graduate course of English language and literature. The course covers English literary studies, theories, criticism and pedagogy, all in the form of theory.
The eligibility criteria for M.A in English literature is same in almost all the Universities in India. The eligibility criteria for MA English Course includes is Graduation in any course from a recognized university with a Minimum of 45% or 50% marks.
To get admission in top colleges and universities to pursue M.A English course in India, graduate students have to take the MA English Entrance exam as well. It is compulsory. But there is a possibility of direct admissions in this course in few universities and colleges and the admissions are done on the basis of merit of the students.

Sorry to say nut Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Doesn't offer BA in English Language. Though it offers BA in languages like Korean, japanese, pushto, sanskrit, etc. And post graduation courses in many different subjects.
