Hi Chetan,
Yes you can pursue Diploma in Environmental Engineering. It has great job prospects. Government and private sector job opportunities are available in front of environmental engineers. NGOs are also known to recruit them. Other than core environmental engineering sector, diploma holders may also find work in allied sectors such as civil engineering and chemical engineering. PWD, Municipal Corporations, Town/Urban Planning board, Agricultural Departments, Forest Departments, ONGC, OIL, Government operated refineries etc are some of the well known Government sector recruiters. When it comes to private sector, firms involved in construction, production industries, water resource management firms, power generating firms, mining firms, refineries and chemical manufacturing firms are well known recruiters.
Starting salary depends on a number of different factors. Prominent factors are- profile of the employer, employee skills, aptitude and grades attained by the employee. General starting salary in case of environmental engineers is around 10-20k Rupees per month. In case of Government job, salary will be based on Pay Band and scale.
Thank you and best of luck.
Definitely it has an immense potential and scope which is increasing year by year. It is a diverse field and requires individuals from diverse backgrounds like chemical, process, civil, thermal, environmental chemistry, water and sewage treatment, waste management.
Job prospects for professionals with qualification in environmental engineering are bright in research centres, NGOs and various governmental departments working towards green development. Candidates with M.Tech in environmental engineering have opportunities to work for government built assessment committees which study and analyse the environmental risks involved in certain projects. The report of such a committee is then submitted to the concerned authority for further observation. Scholars with PhD in environmental engineering can opt for teaching jobs in colleges and universities.
Don't think much about its scope , if you are interested just put your full effort and you can definitely reach heights.
All the best.!
