Hello Dear,
We usually use surface tension when referring to liquids and surface energy when referring to solids, but in reality they are the same thing. Surface tension and surface energy are important because they are measurable numbers that tell us how strong the attraction between molecules is. The surface energy of a liquid (liquid-gaseous interface) can be determined with a simple model experiment. Inside a U-shaped wire frame with a movable hoop at the open end a thin liquid film (e.g. soap solution) is spanned . Surface tension is the tendency of liquid surfaces to shrink into the minimum surface area possible. Surface tension is what allows heavier than water i.e., denser than water objects such as razor blades, insects, to float and slide on a water surface without becoming even partly submerged.
Good Luck
Hello Candidate,
In NEET Examinations, if you want to score good in Physics, then just focus on the basic principles of each chapter as very detailed Questions are not asked generally.
Coming on to the Basics of elasticity topics such as- Stress, Strain, Young's Modulus, Bulk Elasticity are key Subjects. The important topics of Fluid Mechanics are- Buoyancy, Weight of Solids dispersed due to fluids, and others. Important topics of Surface Tension are- Pressure in Bubbles, Surface Tension Force, Tension Ring etc.
Hope that this answer helps you!!
Hello,
Fluid mechanics is a vast topic that deals with the flow of fluids and the forces working on them. So even if the subtopics in the different module or semesters vary, the overall syllabus remains the same for all universities and colleges.
If you are pursuing you UG degree, then these are a few books that you may find useful:
Hope this helps you.
