Medical and Genetic engineering

Ankur Sehgal 25th Jan, 2018

Hey,

Medical and genetic engineering both are different streams, although both come under Life science branch. Genetic engineering is being widely used in medicine.

Genetic engineering -:

Genetic engineering involves recombinant DNA technology and gene cloning, is the direct manipulation of an organism’s genes using Biotechnology.

To pursue genetic engineering after your 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects, you can go for -:

· Four-year B.Tech degree course in Genetic engineering

· Three-year B.Sc degree course in Genetics/ Life science/ Biotechnology and after that you can go for M.Sc and then P.hd to pursue research in genetic engineering.

Genetic engineering which is also known as Gene technology has become major thrust area of present-day researchers.

I am in 12th standard and I want to do Btech in genetic engineering in foreign such as California university .

zubin916 26th Oct, 2017
You should go for masters degree in genetic enginnering by appearing for exams like GRE & TOEFL. the average salary is way higher at 1.1Lac $ for post grad students in genetic engineering and there is limited scope for undergraduate students. For your undergraduate degree, you can choose Indian colleges like TIFR Mumbai, IISC Bangalore. Genetic Engineering scientists and researchers usually find jobs in the research labs of universities and research institutions. Some even join the R&D section of biotech industries. Students with M.Tech or MSc degree in Genetic Engineering or Biotechnology with specialization in Genetic Engineering can find jobs in biotech and pharma companies or join universities as research assistants.
