What is known as test cross in Genetics?

Mayank Chowdhary 14th Jun, 2020

Hi Raksha!! Hope you are doing well!! Test cross is a type of test conducted by specialized scientists to find out that an organism exhibiting a dominant trait is heterozygous or homozygous for a specific allele. The organism for which we have to check is crossed with an homozygous organism of the recessive  traits and the offspring of test cross is analysed.

Pankhuri Kumari 10th Jun, 2020
Hii!
Yes, you can pursue BSc genetics without studying maths in class 1th and 12th.
The Eligibility criteria for the course states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks in PCB Subject combination from a recognised Board of education.
There are not many Colleges in Mumbai for it. So let me list out some of the good Colleges providing this course across India-
* Padmashree Institute of management and sciences, Bangalore
* Dyal Singh College, New Delhi
* Kakatiya University, Warangal
* Dayanand sagar Institute, Bangalore
* AWH special College, Calicut
Etc.,
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

I completed Bsc in human genetics and molecular biology. I like jobs related to human genetics,reproductive Genetics,clinical genetics,cancer genetics,medical genetics and immunogenetics. What is a better option for me, MSc in molecular biology and Human Genetics OR MSc in biomedical genetics?

Disha Arora 9th Jul, 2020

Dear Aspirant,

The inter dependence of each is rather apparent as to understand genetics you need to understand molecular biology. At one end you have Proteins/Biochemistry and at the other end you have Genes.

If you look at the syllabus of each it would appear to us that the course in M.Sc Molecular Biology and Human Genetics will give you a deeper understanding of your interests.  We suggest you do the same and take a detailed look at the syllabus and finally make the choice as we think you need to look at it from a research point of view.

Good Luck
