Geo informatics
Hi Kalpana,
As per previous year cutoff, University Departments of Anna University, Chennai - CEG Campus, Chennai opening Mark's for geoinformatics is 187 and and closing marks is 185.25 in BC Category.
University Departments of Anna University, Chennai - CEG Campus, Chennai opening Mark's for geoinformatics is 192 and and closing marks is 187.5 in general Category.
So, you have chances that you will get seat if it's not full till last round. But every year Seats get full in 1st or 2nd round of counselling.

Hi aspirant,
Manufacturing engineering and Geoinformatics engineering both are two different fields of engineering and they differ greatly. Manufacturing engineering is the engineering which uses Physical and chemical application of science and technology to convert raw materials into finished product. Broadly It involves the production of materials and services.
On the other hand, Geoinformatics engineering is the engineering which develops and uses information science infrastructure to address the problems of geography, cartography, geosciences and related branches of science and engineering. It uses Science and Technology to collect and organise the data and then analyse it through computation and geo-visualization.
Both of them have scope. But if you wish to choose then I would recommend you to choose manufacturing unless you have serious interest in Geoinformatics engineering. The later is having limited scope but manufacturing engineering is broader.
Hope it helps you.
Hey,
Although the branch selection depends upon your interest but I'll give you an idea of both the branches:-
Geoinformatics has been described as "the science and technology dealing with the structure and character of spatial information, its capture, its classification and qualification, its storage, processing, portrayal and dissemination.
AUTOMOBILE ENGINEERING-Automobile Engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with designing, manufacturing and operating automobiles. It is a segment of vehicle engineering which deals with motorcycles, buses, trucks, etc. It includes mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety elements.
In terms of placement both of the branches will give a package of Rs. 3-6lpa in beginning.
I hope this info will help you to choose the best for you.
Good luck.
Hello,
Yes the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT), Chennai has B.E course in Automobile engineering in which you can take admission. Bachelor of Engineering in Automobile Engineering is a full-time four-year course degree offered by Anna University, Chennai. The College of Engineering, Guindy offers B.E course in Geoinformatics. BE Geo Informatics is full time four year undergraduate degree course. offered at College of Engineering, Guindy and offered by ANNA University, ChennaiAnna. The admission to UG programmes is purely based on the marks obtained in the Higher Secondary examinations. The admission of students to all the programmes is through a Single Window Admission System, administered by Anna University.
Now a days the demand for Geoinformatics is increasing day by day and various research work is going on based on this topic. It is very interesting subject too. After completing Btech in Geoinformatics if you want to get job in ISRO you have to apply ICRB exam i.e. ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board exam. The exam is conducted by ICRB for scientist and Engineer recruitment.
There are various fields that have application of Geoinformatics. Those fields are, Disaster Management, Defense,Forestry, Environment and Climate,Agriculture etc. You can get job in those fields as-- GIS Expert, GIS Environment Analyst, Geo-Spatial Software Engineer, GIS programmer etc.
Geoinformatics is described as the science and technology dealing with the structure and character of spatial information, its acquisition, classification, quantification, storage, processing, portrayal and dissemination. The domain also includes the infrastructure necessary to secure optimal use of this information. It has multiple applications in diverse fields. Some of these fields/applications are, Defense & Security / Target Detection, Hydrology / Irrigation, Disaster / Floods / Glacial Lake Outbursts, Urban / Environment / Pollution, Agriculture / Crop monitoring etc. Geoinformatics is essentially a multidisciplinary subject with different aspects of this subject dealt by different branches of engineering. For example, development of sensors/resolution/ payload/energy consumption etc is dealt by experts in electronics, image processing algorithms and extraction information etc are dealt by experts in computers and information technology and various applications of geo-informatics are in the field of Civil engineering, agriculture etc.
DTU is one of the top most colleges in india and placements are very good in this for specifically geoinformatics no data is given by the university.
ALL THE BEST
As per your cutoff score and previous year cutoff, the colleges you will in geo-infomatics get as per your cutoff score are:-
College of Engineering, Guindy
Park College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore
Anna University Regional Campus - Tirunelveli
University VOC College of Engineering, Thoothukudi
The eligibility criteria for B.Tech in Geoinformatics is candidates must have passed 10+2 with minimum qualifying marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as core subjects. Independent entrance tests for this course are also held by the various state, central, and private universities which mostly require 50% as the prerequisite to appear for the test.
Dear Student,
Both of those universities are very good in their way.
IIT KANPUR : The cutoff marks for this the qualifying marks in GATE.Candidates who have marks higher than the given cutoff will be eligible for admissions in the institute. The placement is really very good as usual. GATE does not have any counselling process and admissions to candidates is given through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and Centralized Counselling for M.Tech (CCMT).
MNIT Allahabad : This is really a very good course. GATE cutoff for MNIT Allahabad is the opening and closing marks within which the institute allots seats in its various courses. The cut off marks changes in every years due to different course . The placement is also very good and there are so many job opportunites in this course.
Now it is depend on you that what you can do the best, then choose it.
Hope it will help you.
