i have passed hs under WBCHSC with this following subjects combination - chemistry, biology, nutrition and geography . now Im thinking to bsc Hons in microbiology ... please anyone can assure me is it right choice ? and job opportunities in future ?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 4th Aug, 2021

Microbiology is one of the trending topics in the basic sciences and if you choose to pursue your career in the field then its undoubtedly a good choice. In India as well as abroad Microbiologist have needs to work in different Pharmaceutical companies, virological studies, Public health studies etc. But to establish in the field a Bsc will not be enough. You should get a Masters after your BSc in order to have better career choice. A PhD in the subject can lead you to more better positions but I would say having a MSc is must or else it will be hard for you to get jobs in the subject area.

pdwords Student Expert 10th Sep, 2021

Hello,

Firstly it's imperative on your part to decide which subject you find interesting amongst political science, history, geography and are you wishing to go for BA Program or Hons in any of these subject, see these are really good combinations if you aim for UPSC exam or even let's say you want to teach at school level, for that in future you can go ahead with BEd and having master's degree also enable you to teach for higher classes, and in case of university level teaching you can appear for UGC NET or state level SETs, these don't require you to have any kind of teaching programme, simply based on graduation you will be eligible to appear for any government exams such as state PSCs/Banking/Insurance/SSC CGL/CDS(only OTA for female)/Railways to name a few, other than this you can explore more detailed information about these courses separately by visiting our page as mentioned below-

Is B.sc geography good for IPS ?

pdwords Student Expert 29th Jul, 2021

Hello,

The eligibility criteria to appear for UPSC is passed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, there is no such restriction of belonging to specific stream, and BSc Geography is a good option regarding this, the reason being there is considerable overlap of syllabus of general studies of prelims and mains, and you can also have it as an optional paper, and the syllabus of optional paper is nothing short of graduation studies, hence if you go for your graduation subject then you will already be well familiar with the syllabus, and all the knowledge, so the preparation process become comparatively easier,
