Now days every workshop is using cnc machines, even though small workshop are also buying cnc machines. Because cnc definitely gives you more production with added benefits like accuracy. CNC field as the job is not just limited to cnc programmers, there are lot and lot of job titles which are related to cnc machines like cnc programmers, cnc machine setters, cnc machine operators, cnc machine maintenance personals ( all the mechanical, electrical and electronics guys are under this title) and one other field which was not that much used in past but now is the ultimate part of cnc programming is CAD/CAM.
