whats the process to take admission in MA history

Nitin Kumar 14th Jun, 2024

You need a Bachelor's degree in History or a closely related field like Social Sciences, Humanities, or Liberal Arts. Some universities might consider students with a Bachelor's degree in another discipline with a strong background in History courses.

Universities often have minimum percentage requirements for your Bachelor's degree. This can range from 50% to 70%, depending on the institution.

  • Start by researching universities offering MA History programs that align with your interests. Consider factors like program specializations, faculty expertise, and campus location.

Visit the websites or contact the admissions office of the universities you're shortlisted. Verify their specific eligibility criteria for the MA History program, including the required degree and minimum marks.

Fill out the application form carefully and accurately. Request transcripts from your Bachelor's degree university to be sent directly to the program you are applying to.Write a compelling SOP outlining your academic background, research interests, and career goals in History. Highlight relevant skills and experiences. Request recommendation letters from professors familiar with your academic work in History

Some universities might require you to take entrance exams like university-specific exams or national-level exams. Prepare well for these exams if necessary.

Shortlisted candidates might be called for an interview with faculty members. Be prepared to discuss your research interests, academic background, and motivations for pursuing an MA in History.

Im arts student and noww Im in 12th and I want to do BA mass comm. and journalism but Im confused about my subjects that I had taken is good for it or not English, history, geography and pol.sci is my main subjects can I do it ?

Nitin Kumar 7th Jun, 2024

The subjects you've chosen (English, History, Geography, and Political Science) are all excellent choices for a BA in Mass Communication and Journalism.

Strong English language skills are fundamental for a career in journalism and mass communication. You need to write clearly, concisely, and persuasively across various media formats.

Understanding historical events and trends provides valuable context for your future work as a journalist. It helps you analyze current events and their potential impact.

Geography teaches you about the world's social, political, and economic landscapes. This knowledge is crucial for journalists who report on global issues.

Political Science equips you with an understanding of government systems, political ideologies, and current affairs. This knowledge base is invaluable for journalists covering politics and policy.

I recently passed my class 12 with 94% ,i want to pursue law ,can I get admission in law school Jammu ,this year?? I appeared for cuet exam and the domain subjects are history, geo, political science and economics..can I get admission here corresponding to my subjects in cuet exam

monag2673 25th Jul, 2024

There might be a good chance! The Law School, Jammu University, traditionally accepted students through their own entrance exam (JUET) for the BA LLB program. However, in 2024, admissions switched to CUET scores.

While your CUET subject combination (History, Geo, Political Science, Economics) isn't directly law-related, it fulfills the eligibility criteria we can find online.  Your score of 94% is definitely impressive.

Here's what to do next:

  • Confirm the official admission process for 2024 on the Law School, Jammu University website.
  • Look for any specific CUET cut-off scores for the BA LLB program (though your score is strong).
  • Since admissions are new via CUET, past cut-off information based on JUET might not be relevant.

hope this helps you!!

sir i have two domain history, geography and one language english. what iam. eligible for du any course

Ayush Madanpotra 21st Jul, 2025

If you have two domain subjects-History and Geography, and one language subject-English, then yes, you are eligible for many courses at Delhi University (DU), especially in the Arts and Humanities stream.

Based on your subjects, here are some DU undergraduate courses you may be eligible for:

1. BA (Hons) History – you have History as a domain subject, so you can apply.
2. BA (Hons) Geography – same as above, since Geography is your second domain subject.
3. BA (Hons) Political Science – DU accepts related subjects like History and Geography for eligibility.
4. BA Programme (Multidisciplinary) – a flexible course where you can choose two subjects like History and Geography or others depending on the college.
5. BA (Hons) Sociology, Philosophy, Hindi, Sanskrit etc. – some of these courses accept any two domain subjects, and your combination is generally acceptable.

For these courses, Delhi University considers your CUET score, calculated using your best language + two domain subjects.

So with History, Geography, and English, you can definitely apply to many courses in DU Arts stream.
