Tamilakam, or Thamizhagam, refers to the geographical region inhabited by the ancient Tamil people.

Ancient Tamilakam ruled by three different empires those are the Chera, Chola, and Pandyas during the Sangam Age. Ancient Tamilakam people's social life is associated with the division of land.

Nature of the Tamilakam  Society :

Tamilakam in the ancient Tamil country in habited by the ancient Tamil people as there language is tamil.The social life in this period is the corpus of the sangam works,Tamilakam ruled by three different empires those are the chera,chola and pandyas as during the sangam age ,That people's social life is associated with the division of land.The division of and is called Tinai.Again each Tinai connected with specific landscape.

In ancient Tamilakam total,five Tinais are present ,named as Kurinchi,Mullai,Maritham,and Neytal.
