what is good branch in mba

Anonymous 7th Sep, 2017

It's not the branch which gets you more salary. Rather it's your interest which will get you farther in life.

Here are some of the branches of MBA in which you can think about pursuing your MBA course-

  • MBA in Finance
  • MBA in Health (Pharmaceuticals)
  • MBA in Consultancy
  • MBA in Information Technology
  • MBA in Telecommunications
  • MBA in Media
  • MBA in Services
  • MBA in Hospital Management
  • MBA in HR
  • MBA in Operations
  • MBA in International Business

and there are many more.

It is not about the best branch but if you have specifically no interest in any then you can follow your educational background like if you are from commerce you can choose finance which is the mostly choosen branch, or marketing if you have the convincing power etc.

You can even know the pros and cons of each branch you have interest in and then you can decide which way to go. Some may have intensive work pressure but high salary and others may have good packages but typically much stable jobs that you become stagnant at one point of time.

Choose your interest!

Good luck.

I am pursuing bba and interested to make career in HR field. Which IIM is best for HR

Anonymous 30th Aug, 2017

Human Resource Management or HR is the management of human resources. HR is primarily concerned with the management of people within organizations, focusing on policies and on systems. HR departments are responsible for overseeing employee-benefits design, employee recruitment, training and development, performance appraisal, and rewarding and more.

Apart from IIMs, TISS has a flagship/specialized program in HR. It has comprehensive course structure with six internships in total- 4 mandatory internships during the four semesters and 2 internships at the end of each year. Placements are good as well. You get a wholesome learning experience and damn good exposure during your time in the academic years.

Some other good MBA colleges for HR specialization are:

XLRI, Jamshedpur

Symbiosis Institute Of Business Management, Pune

MDI, Gurgaon

NMIMS, Mumbai

K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, Mumbai

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS)

ISB Hyderabad

Though all IIM's provide HR stream but IIM Ranchi is good in this specialization.

Aim getting above 98 percentile to get into decent/top IIM's.

Hope this helps.

Good luck!

Tata institute of social sciences is providing a course of M.A(HR). How it is differed from MBA ?

Anonymous 21st Aug, 2017

The MBA with a concentration in Human Resources program curriculum is mainly focused on business. Students enrolled in this program take a certain number of business courses which give them a broad base of knowledge of how all the parts of a modern business operate and work together.

M.A. in Human Resources and Labour Relations in TISS, Mumbai is a highly specialised course in Human Resources as compared to an MBA where you study basic management and choose HR as a specialisation. The key features of the M.A. in HRM & LR at TISS, Mumbai, which differentiates it from a general MBA in HR are:

  • There is much of field study and practical study than theory unlike normal MBA in HR.
  • There is much of research projects which enhances your knowledge and skills.
  • Placements are good than normal MBA program
  • TISS specializes in this course so you should choose it.

You can also work with UNDP, WHO,UNEP, UNESCO, UNICEF as they all are TISS recruiters. On an average the package is approx 12-15 lakhs.

Rest details you can check here: TISS placements
