Dear candidate, Basic salary of an IAS Officer according to 7th Pay Commission is Rs 56,100 to Rs 2,50,000. The allowances given to IAS officer are:

• Residence : IAS officers generally get huge houses as residences on very low or no rent. They also can avail of the services of maids, cooks, gardeners, security guards, etc.
• Transport: They are allotted one or more vehicles for official purposes.

• Bills: They generally get free or highly subsidised electricity, water, gas and phone connections.

To become an IAS officer you need to crack the Civil Service Examination (CSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

After passing this exam you can become an IAS officer.

Eligibility criteria for this exam is as follows:

The minimum age criteria is at least 21 years of age.

The maximum age limit for the general the category is 32 years, OBC category is 35 years and for SC/ST category is 37 years.

Students are required to successfully complete a 10+2 in any stream of subjects with an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in order to opt for a career as an IAS officer

•Bachelor

Candidates are required to enrol in a bachelor’s degree programme after successful completion of a 10+2 from a recognised board a min required qualification for a career as an IAS Officer is successful completion of a bachelors degree programme

•Qualify Union Public Service Commission Examination

See UPSC is an examination which requires a special attention that is to get a job through UPSC you need to study specifically as per the UPSC syllabus. Thus there are no options available that can ensure you more about the selection. I would recommend you that you should take the subject you like the most. This is a very important point because if you take the subject you like then while studying it you will not feel bored or get exhausted. This will help you to study your BSc subject as well as your preparation for UPSC. So take the subject you like the most.

Now you can take some subjects which are in your UPSC syllabus like BSc Economics. So its better for you to go for the subject you like so that you can focus more on your preparation and don't get frustrated due to your BSc courses. But I assure you that the things you will learn in BSc will not be needed exactly in your UPSC preparation. Instead you will find that foundational knowledge to the subject is important. This is the reason why I stated that you should pursue the subject you like and keep a focused plan for your UPSC preparation.
