Can someone tell me about IBS as a college for MBA, details like placements, entrance?
Pros: 1) The college has taken several good initiatives this year like Choose your own faculty, Introduction of the SLP program for better preparation during placements, Introduction of subjects like GST, and also some minor tweaks to the existing curriculum.
2) Improved discipline by the college authority.
Cons: 1) The batch size is scheduled to increase to 1200 students this year, no matter how much the college and its alumini including me will try to justify, this becomes a huge problem during placements. This year at the very moment while I am writing this, almost 350 students remain unplaced.
2) The housekeeping staff has been pathetic this year, there has been several reports of bedbugs and other insects in various hostel rooms, the drinking water is not at all purified and may contain contaminations (There are no water filters in hostel and college academic area.) The hostels are in very poor conditions, all things are broken, the WIFI sucks and the college rarely spends any money in maintenance. The food quality in mess is overall terrible given the fact that Sodexo manages the food service here. Though these little things might not bother to most of you, but if you are paying 14 lakhs for a college, you ought to look at these factors.
3) Coming to academics, the overall quality of teaching has taken a significant dip, most of the faculties are low on experience and the teaching is of mediocre quality, perhaps you would be able to absorb the subject as much as possible. This doesnt mean IBS Hyderabad doesnt have good faculties, infact there are amazing faculties, but the ratio is 25/75 and when you have 13 sections in Semester 1, the chances of you getting a good faculty are very low.
4) The placements have improved significantly as compare to last year, though there are still 350 students who are yet to be placed, also from marketing domain perspective the profiles available mostly are sales and business development ones.
5) Several violations of drug abuse and drunkenness takes place in the college because the management doesn't take serious actions against the violators, if you are a sane person this should bother you.
Fees : While picking a MBA college, the first thing that comes to your mind is the fee structure, frankly speaking it is on the higher side, and one of the biggest drawback of IBS that would prevent you to take admission here. The current fee for IBS Hyderabad is 15,32,000 INR including hostel, mess, and other services that the college provides which you have to play in trimester installments.
Faculties : IBS Hyderabad has a good mix of faculties all together, there are some faculties in every course like Finance, Marketing, Operations and HR that would completely change your perspective towards your life, and help you grow in ways that can make you a better human being, but to cater to the needs of a 2400 students, you definitely cant get all premium faculties, there are average and a small subset of faculties that would actually make you regret your decision of taking admission to IBS Hyderabad, the funny part is the good faculties fly away in years, whereas the bad ones are still teaching there since ages and nothing is done by the management to replace them , but then its the case in almost every MBA institute, so all you can do is if you have 8 subjects and you end up having 2 bad faculties, prepare them self, take help of seniors, who are quite helpful and learn the art of managing while you study, because when you work in the corprates you might come up with this kind of situation and this will help you in tackling that.
Thanks,
Azim
Does the bba hostels have ac rooms? or rooms are non ac?
Hello Jatin,
You have not mentioned the name of the hostle. Generally every hostles now a days have ac rooms due to the increase in demands of the ac rooms. Student now a days give priorities to ac rooms than the non ac rooms. So every hostle have both rooms.
Thank you
