hello...plse help me that how im being an ips officer in maths honour in graduation degree

pdwords Student Expert 25th Oct, 2019

Hello,

You question isn't clear, if you're stating that you want to be an IPC officer, then for that you need to appear for UPSC exam and you needs to be a graduate from a recognized university.

As you said, you're a Maths Graduate, and if you have completed 21 years, you're definitely eligible for UPSC exam.

UPSC exam consists of three level-

  • Preliminary
  • Mains
  • Interviews

Preliminary marks are not added in the final list, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category. It mainly consists of GS Paper-I and CSAT. Both consists of 200 marks, MCQs based.

Mains is more of a subjective type, one needs to write answer for Four General Studies Paper,Two Optionals, One Essay, two language paper, there are total nine papers here. 250 marks for each paper, total is 1750

You can start your preparation with gradual steps as mentioned below-

Be well acquainted with UPSC Syllabus, learn it by heart, that's the most crucial step to crack this exam, to know what to read and what to skip. In addition to this, never ever make a differentiation between prelims and mains, what I mean is do not prepare separately for each, because nowadays what's happening is even in prelims, UPSC frame questions based on Mains syllabus, So, the first towards preparation shall be a combined preparation for both.

Read any newspaper like The Hindu, or Indian Express on a regular basis to be updated as well as gaining knowledge which shall be highly useful to you in future exam preparation part.

Start with basics, for each subject, you can do with NCERTs for this.

As you progress, move on to other relevant books, keep your resources minimum like Polity by Laxmikanth, History of Modern India by Bipin Chandra etc.

Start practicing answer writing in advance, even in a little way, writing mains is a huge task for nine paper, it requires immense practice along with knowledge.

Practice  previous year question paper which you can get from the site of UPSC,in addition mock papers, and test series which you can get it from any of the sites extensively dedicated to UPSC, , it's highly important to evaluate your performance while doing so.

Prelims is mcq based, but still it requires knowledge coupled with speed, and for mains, as I already mentioned the importance of answer writing.

State level PSCs too follow the similar pattern as that of UPSC. You can extensively use the information I've provided in regards to PSCs as well.

I got 9.0 CGPA in Xth , 78.2 in 12th and 78.6 in Graduation. How much do i have to score in CAT for decent call for MBA?

rehan18alam Student Expert 19th Oct, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

You have a good profile and you can get a call from one of the holy Trinity, IIM Calcutta a call for sure if your percentile is more than 99 and you might get a call from FMS and Ahemdabad also if you score above 99.5 percentile in case of general category students.

Your only problem will be the 12th marks and good for you many IIMs do not give much weightage to 12th scores. So hope for the best, score above 99.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

i have got 82 in 10th, 55 in 12th and 68 in graduation what should i score in cat to get good b with avg salary of 8,9lkhs

rehan18alam Student Expert 18th Oct, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

You have to score a minimum of 99 percentile to get at least one good IIM call as your academics are not good. You could get a call from new IIMs if you score 99 percentile as the top tier IIMs will not give you a chance due to your poor acads.

Colleges you could look for are like IIM Nagpur, Kashipur, Shillong, etc. These colleges if you study well will provide you with a good package of 10-12 lpa.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

i have got 90 percentile in cat but my academic scores are quite low 80 percent in 10th,55 percent in 12 from bihar board and 65 percent in graduation from bihar board, would i get good clg

rehan18alam Student Expert 18th Oct, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

You will not be able to get any good business school like top IIMs, MDI, IIFT, or FMS. However, you can still get a good MBA tier 3/4 college if you increase your percentile to 98 percentile.

However, according to your grads, you must not be disappointed if you don't get a call at 99 because your marks are not good.

Hope for the best. Thank you.

I have 81% in 10th, 61.8% in 12, 62.4% in graduation and 87 percentile in CAT in OBC category. Am I eligible for iim shillong?

rehan18alam Student Expert 26th Nov, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

IIM Shillong Eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration after class 12, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%

IIM Shillong has set a low minimum CAT 2019 percentile cut off at 7 5%ile sectional. There is no prescribed minimum overall CAT 2019 percentile required by IIM Shillong in its shortlisting criteria.

The actual CAT cut offs at IIM Shillong remain in the range of 94-95 percentile in the shortlisting process.

Hope this helps. Thank you.

sir i got 90% in graduation from IGNOU university and i got 4.8 CGPA in 10th standard and 69% in 12 th class and i cleared my CA IPCC (intermediate) with rank. sir so can i get admission in iims if i will score above90% marks in CAT

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 26th Nov, 2019

Dear Saurabh, You haven't mentioned your Category. Neverthless, to be honest, your 10th and 12th marks may not favour you. But your Graduation aggregate is fantastic. When the IIMs shortlist candidates for WAT, they consider factors like your Academic profile, your CAT score, diversity factor, etc. Few IIMs also consider Work experience. Now 4.8 CGPA and 69% in 12th, you will not gain much points on the rating scale. With 90% in Graduation, you might get 8-9 points. But with your 10th and 12th marks, you may get 2-4 points on the rating scale. And considering these 3 scores, your points might be between 12-14. Which means when IIMs shortlist Candidates for the next round based on your Category and all these factors, you might lag a little. But let's say you scored 95 percentile in CAT, you may have it to your advantage but no offense and hope  none is taken, you might fall behind in being selected. But there is an advantage here that you are studying CA. Professional courses like CA, MBBS, etc get additional points because of the diversity factor. If you want to get into an IIM, you should finish CA Final and use it to your advantage to secure a seat in the shortlist. Meanwhile as you have already completed your Graduation, if you can join a job, your work experience will show up and it will add few more points to your profile. Then access to study in  any of the IIMs becomes much easier. Inspite of all this if you get a call from an of the IIMs with this current profile, nothing better than that.
