courses in engineering to join Indian army

Shivang Dubey 5th Jun, 2020

Hey Ananya

To join Indian Army after graduation, BTech particularly, one does not need to have a specific branch or course in Engineering if applying through Combined Defense Services (CDS) after graduation, you should clear the minimum eligibility criteria and the entrance test+SSB. CDS

And if you're applying for recruitment through AFCAT, then for different Engineering posts you need to have specific course study in your Graduation. For example: For an Aeronautical Engineer the courses allowed are:

Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Industrial, Automation, Mechatronics and other specializations. If you want to know more, follow the link; AFCAT

Other than AFCAT and CDS, Indian Army organizes recruitment camps where candidates are selected on the basis of simple test and physical test for lower posts in the Indian Army. For that you must see the official Join Indian Army website.

For further doubts, ask us. All the best

hii my birthday is26/03/2003 i want to join indian army through cds 2,2020 can i appear it? and which course and university is there?

Ankit Dahiya Student Expert 25th Apr, 2020
Hello,
Common Defence Services Exam i.e CDSE is conducted every year for recruitment of candidates who on subsequent training join Indian defence forces as officers.
The age limit for CDSE 2 2020 is that candidate should not be born after July 2002. So, you are not eligible for CDSE 2 2020.
After clearing CDSE written exam, candidates are called for SSB interview and those who clear the interview are made to undergo medicals. Then a merit list is released. Thos who make it to the final list are called for training at respective academies.
Indian Army candidates go to Indian Military Academy, Dehradun,
Air Force candidates go to Air Force Academy, Hyderabad
Navy candidates go to Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.

Hello,
For joining India Army you need to appear for the CDSE exam after graduation. The eligibility criteria for CDSE exam is a graduation degree from any recognised university in any discipline. So, you can do graduation from any subject and you will be eligible for CDSE exam. Apart from medical, engineering you can also go for B.Sc, B.Com, BA courses in the subject of your choice.
Also, before taking admission, check if the college has NCC wing or not. NCC would help you develop skills relevant to the Indian Armed Forces.

What exactly the job of engineers in Indian Army

Megha 6th Apr, 2020

Hello Chandan !

For engineers in Indian Army there are three major constituents namely Combat Engineers, MES (Military Engineering Service) and Border Roads.

  1. The main role of combat engineers is to provide mobility to own forces by constructing bridges, tracks and helipads; on the other hand the Corps denies the same to the enemy by creating obstacles such as laying mine-fields and demolition of bridges.
  2. The military engineers are mainly responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of all works, buildings, airfields, dock installations, etc.
  3. The Border Roads Organisation is another major arm of the Defense services which is playing a vital role by constructing national highways, airfields, buildings and bridges.

If you want more information regarding eligibility and exams related to this field please feel free to ask.

Hope it helps !

I had already given 12 exams medical stream but I want to change my subject to arts in college and want to join indian army as a female officer. so I need some suggestions upon this

Shivang Dubey 14th May, 2020

Hey

A science student can switch his field of d=study after completing a full time program, so you can definitely change your stream to Humanities/Arts after class 12th.

And to join Indian Army as a Female Officer you must look up to following possibilities:

  1. Service Selection Board (SSB): Assuming that you would be applying after pursuing graduation in Arts then SSB is the best option for joining Indian Army. It consists of a written paper conducted twice a year and followed by interview process
  2. National Cadet Corps: You can join NCC in your college and volunteer for the same, later there on there are recruitment from NCC camp through which you can be the part of Indian Army

If interested, follow the link for more details; SSB
