ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 11th Mar, 2022

Hi

Having passed 12th in 2020, you are eligible for jee advanced 2022 only if you have never  appeared in jee advanced before or have appeared only once i. e either in jee advanced 2020 or 2021.

For your reference

JEE  advanced eligibility criteria is given below :-

---------------------) Qualification required :- One needs to pass 10+2/ or equivalent with the following 5 subjects:-

  • Physics

  • Chemistry

  • Mathematics

  • A language

  • Any subject other than listed above

Those appearing for 10+2/equivalent are also eligible.

---------------------) Minimum marks in 12th /equivalent :-  you need to pass your class 12th with at least 75% marks in aggregate in class 12 if belong to general or obc category or at least 65% marks if belongs to SC/ST or must be in the top 20 percentile in class 12 examination.

††† IMPORTANT NOTE :- Considering pandemic in order to give relaxation. The minimum percentage barrier of 75 % - 65% has been lifted off for jee advanced 2022. It means all you need to be eligible is to have at least passed 12th .

††† IMPORTANT NOTE:-

Considering pandemic, there's one time measure for students who had passed 12th in 2021 & 2020.

  • For 2021 passed :- Those 2021 passed students who had qualified jee main 2021 and had registered for jee advanced 2021 but couldn't appear in the examination are directly eligible for jee advanced 2022 without appearing in jee main 2022.

  • For 2020 passed :- 2020 12th passed students are also eligible for  jee advanced 2022 after qualifying jee main 2022 provided they have appeared in only one of 2020 or 2021 jee advanced or none of them.

Details about it is available at:- https://news.careers360.com/jee-advanced-2022-extra-attempt-iit-entrance-exam-candidates-who-missed-in-2020-2021-jeeadv-ac-in

-----------------------) There is upper age limit, according to which to be eligible for jee advanced 2022, you should be born on or after 1st October 1997. There is 5 years of age relaxation for SC, ST and PwD so candidates of SC/ST /PWD needs to be  born on or after October 1, 1992.

But when it comes to IISC then you aren't eligible.

This is because,

To be eligible for IISC 2022, you must have got passed 12th either in 2021 or should be appearing in 2022 . But you have passed 12th in 2020 and thus not eligible

You can check the same at:-

IISC 2022 official notifications hasn't been released yet, if any relaxation is given then it will be notified. You can keep an eye on the official website at https://iisc.ac.in/admissions/

which was more difficult for you getting into IISC Banglore Or IIT?

Nisha 22nd Feb, 2022

hey there

Admission in IISc Bangalore is on the basis of the KVPY examination mostly in which 40-50 thousand students participate and  only few seats from JEE Advance.

IIT  admits students on the basis of JEE Advanced, which is considered to be one of the toughest exams.

If someone wants to get into IIsc BS course which exam is better through NEET or KVPY?? what would you suggest?? kindly share.

maaztauquir24 19th Feb, 2022

Hi reader ,

for getting admission in IISC these are the following routes:

KVPY

JEE ADVANCED

NEET

being a NEET aspirant , you must be studying with complete focus on NEET.

in KVPY the level of paper is usually of higher standard than what is asked in neet mainly in physics

but you should attempt KVPY as it will help you stimulate an exam situation for NEET.

With ample gap between KVPY and NEET you will get better in your weaker sectio and hence it will be more possible to achieve a good rank in neet thus boosting your chances of getting into IISC.

i hope my views provided you a clarity.

Im in 10th and wish to do research in bio. Im planning for JEE coaching and dummy school for IISER/IIsc prep. But as I dont want the usual engineering branches, is it worth for me? Should I do normal school and no coaching as I dont want to miss out on the school experience.

Arhana Chakraborty 11th Feb, 2022

If you have absolute clarity regarding your choice to study basic sciences, then you shouldn't bother that much for JEE. If you wish to go for Biology at IISER's you can go for the KVPY examination as well IISER aptitude test. Now if you are wiling to go for IISc, then your struggle for JEE ADVANCED isn' completely justified as you can also get into IISc through KVPY but the preparation of JEE ADVANCED, gives you a thrust towards success but its not mandatory, prepare well for KVPY & you can achieve your dreams. Its not like that, you can't crack JEE ADVANCED while going to schools. There are many rankers who have done regular schooling as well as cracked the examination. So don't pressurize yourself to a specific trends, you can obviously do schooling along with studies for JEE ADVANCED. So if you don't want to miss school, just appear for regular schooling. There are no perfect pathway to crack JEE ADVANCED except your hardwork. So if you can manage your schooling & preparation, there are no issues.
