I am a science student without maths and my optional subject in cbse was Informatics practices can i pursue a career in b.sc programming and data science

Divyanshi Lal 6th Dec, 2020

Hello student,

BSc Data Science is a 3 year full-time course that comes under the domains of Computer Science, Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. Data Science is an interdisciplinary subject that includes the use of Statistics, Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning and related aspects in order to understand the problem or phenomena with respect to a set of real-world data.

Basic eligibility to this course is almost same in all the colleges, which is:

  • Students must have completed Class 12 with Science stream.
  • The subjects should be Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. If a student has studied Computer Science as an additional subject, then it will be treated as an advantage.

Another option is, Integrated MSc in Data Science. It is an integrated B.Sc+M.Sc course, which is of a total of 5 years duration.

The students who wish to take admission to 5 years Integrated MSc in Data Science will have to fulfil the given below eligibility criteria: -

  • The candidates must have passed Class 12 th with a minimum of 50% of marks.
  • Candidates from PCM/ PCB/ Commerce are eligible for admission in the five-year Integrated M.Sc course in Data Science.
  • Candidates will also have an option after three years, and he/ she will be awarded a B.Sc degree in Data Science.

I hope it helps.

All the Best!

Hi Ritik,

One of the career option in Computer Science with PCB and IP is bioinformatics. It consists computer application for managing biological information. It requires an entrance exam. Also, since you do not have mathematics but still if you want to pursue BTech in Computer Science Engineering, you can get in it through an entrance exam called LPU-NEST.

Can I include English, Music, Informatics Practices and Physics as my Best Four Subjects to get admission in DU to pursue BA English Hons

Pankhuri Kumari 17th Sep, 2020
Hii!
See, the eligibility criteria for pursuing BA English Honors at Delhi University, states that the candidate must have scored atleast 50% marks in 10+2 with English as one of the compulsory subjects. Now, if we talk of subjects, the compulsory subjects are taken into account, however, you can include the other subjects such as music and Computers with deduction in marks/ percentage. So, if you are from science stream, your compulsory subjects would be PCM/B and english. So, check out the eligibility criteria properly before applying.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

Can I include English, Music, Informatics Practices and Physics as my best four subjects to get admission in DU to pursue BA LLB Hons??

Shreya sharma 17th Sep, 2020

Hello aspirant,

Hope you're doing well.

Well, there is not a ba llb course offered by university of delhi. Rather, they offer a 3 year full time programme for law.

If you're talking about getting admission in BA, there are some core subjects which need to be recognized and used to calculate in the best four percentage. However, if you want to switch your subjects, for example music for chemistry, they'll consider it, but after deducting 2.5% from the best 4 percentage.

I hope my answer helps you.

All the best.

Is informatics practices or any other field related to computer required to be studied with physics, chemistry and mathematics in class 11 and 12 for further doing aerospace engineering preferably from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 11th Sep, 2020

hi,

see IITs btech admission is based on jee advance score. however you must get the qualifying marks in jee main exam to become eligible for jee advance exam. how jee main and jee advance exams syllabus is based on physics, chemistry and mathematics and you must have three subjects mandatory in 12th course, if your dreams to become an Engineer. however in optional subject you may take biology/ computer science/ statistics etc. however it does not matter whether you have studied computer related subjects or not. however as for the engineering / btech courses syllabus it would be best for your future studies if you take statistics/ computer science in 12th course, would beneficial for you in near future.

hope it would help.

according to new selection criterion Am i eligible for getting nit college through jee main if my marks are as follows in cbse class 12th english 92 physics 66 chemistry 67 maths 64 physical education 82 informatics practices 77

Rishi Garg 18th Jul, 2020

As per the latest information from JAB, the board criteria for 75% is removed. Now, a candidate is not required to score an aggregate of at least 75% in his/her respective board exams and he can apply for admission to any of the NITs/IITs/IIITs on the basis of his/her JEE marks.

Hope it helps.

I got the following marks in cbse class 12th board exams:- English - 92 Physics - 66 Chemistry - 67 Maths - 64 Physical education - 82 Informatics practices - 77 I want to know does i belong to top 20 th percentile criterion

Nitish Gupta 17th Jul, 2020

Dear Student

According to the best of 5 , you have scored 74.2 percent marks. I am sorry  to tell you that the minimum  percentage required for eligibility for admissions  through JEE Mains is 75% or top 20 percentile. Last year in 2019, 83.6% was the top 20 percentile. So you are not eligible for the admission. If you are sure that you deserve more marks in any subject , then you should apply for reevaluation because with 4 marks only you can become eligible.

EDIT - As per the recent MHRD announcement , you will be eligible for admission in IITs but the announcement  for  NITs and IIITs admission is still pending.

Hope my answer helps .

Best of Luck for your future.

English- 100, Informatics Practices(IP)- 99, Physics-95, Chemistry-95, Biology-95. This is my score card. Can someone tell me which of these subjects will be counted as my BEST FOUR to get admission in DU??? And what will be my percentage?? PLS TELL BOTH THE THINGS ASAP

Bhawna Mehbubani 21st Aug, 2020

Your BEST OF FOUR subjects and average percentage will depend on the subject with which you want to take admission in DU. Although you have a very good score card, but it is always advised to keep those subjects in BEST OF FOUR related to the subject which you want to pursue graduation with.

Can you please help me with the course you want to pursue?
