my gate score is 446 and AIR 719 in instrumentation engineering. what are my opportunities?

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 25th Mar, 2020

hi,

see cutoff score changes every year and it depends on various factors like number of participants, question difficulty level , seat matrix, choice of streams etc. now at this score you have less chances in top ranked nits, now ever you may apply for nit bhopal, nit durgapur, nit sikkim, iiest shivpur etc. you may also pply for ms course in iit guwahati since ms courses cutoff is less compare to mtech course.

i have a score gate score of 430 in gate 2020 and air 773 in instrumentation engineering can i get m.tech in mechatronics in coep, pune

Akram Khan 1st Apr, 2020

Hi,

The cutoff for Mechatronics for last round sponsored general category seat in coep pune was as -

2019 - gate score (384)

2018 - gate score (386)

2017 - gate score around 500

2016 - gate score 356.

If we look at the cutoff trends it seems difficult for you to get the seat in general category.

There are other good colleges where you can get the admission. You can check the college predictor to see where you have chances of getting admission- https://engineering.careers360.com/gate-college-predictor

I have a gap of 7 years after doing B.E in Instrumentation Engineering without any work experience.my age is 31 now.my category is SC.Can i prepare for ONGC through GATE ?Will i be rejected in interview due to zero work experience & long gap after B.E ?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 21st Nov, 2019
Hello Kuldeep,

Yes, you can appear for GATE to be eligible for ONGC recruitment. If you have scored very good marks in GATE, you have chances of shortlisting for interview. It will not be a problem for you for the gap, just in case if you are questioned about the gap then you should have a valid satisfying answer. It will not be a problem at all as long as you have performed well in interview and group discussion. But PSUs do have age limit which is in between 25years -30 years, so before applying make sure that you meet age eligibility criteria.

why there is no name in chat both for instrumentation engineering ??

Sonali Sahu Student Expert 30th Oct, 2019
Hello,
If both the branch name is not showing in any web page or paper, that means that college might not be providing those courses in graduation. It is not necessary for a college to provide all the engineering branches in graduation. They try to inculcate one by one and expand it. They might do it in future. If you want to read instrumentation engineering or biomedical engineering then you can go for EIE and look for colleges who provide this degree in BTech level according to the entrance also. It always not mandatory that the college you choose will accept the entrance you appeared.
Hope it helps!

in mtech in IITs can we change to CSE if we are in instrumentation engineering after GATE exam

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 28th Oct, 2019

hey,

you can appear in gate exam from any subject. different iits has different rules for subject option. like iit kharagpur does not allow other branches of engineering to do mtech in computer science field. you need to appear in gate from cse paper to do mtech. this is because syllabus is different in different iits. r please check the official websites of iits to know about the eligibility criteria.
