i am general female with 83.9 percentile. any chance of cse in nit, gfti and iiit
Hello
With 83.9 percentile in JEE Mains and being from the General category (female) getting CSE in NITs , IIITs or GFTIs will be quite challenging.
However, you might have chances in:
NITs :
CSE is unlikely in top and mid-tier NITs.
Lower NITs might be possible for non-core branches like Mechanical, Civil, Metallurgy, or Biotechnology.
IIITs:
IIITs specializing in CSE (like IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Allahabad, etc.) require a much higher percentile.
You may have a slight chance in newer IIITs for branches like ECE, IT, or Data Science.
GFTIs:
Some GFTIs may offer CSE or IT related branches at your percentile, depending on the state quota.
hope this helps you .

I got 77 percentile, Can I get ECE for general non Hs, I am Fine with any iiit or nit?
Hello Aspirant
With
77 percentile (General, Non-Home State)
in
JEE Mains
, getting
ECE in NITs or IIITs
is
very difficult
as the cutoffs for these institutes are usually much higher (above 90 percentile for General).
Chances in NITs & IIITs:
1. NITs
– Unlikely, even in lower NITs.
2. Top/Old IIITs
– No chance for ECE.
3. Newer IIITs (Low Chances)
– You may try in
IIIT Agartala, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Bhopal, or IIIT Ranchi
in later rounds or
CSAB Special Rounds
.
Better Alternatives:
-
GFTIs (Government-Funded Technical Institutes)
– Some may have ECE seats available.
-
State Government Colleges
– Check your state's JEE-based counseling.
- Private Colleges – Institutes like LNMIIT, Shiv Nadar, UPES, SRM, and MIT Pune offer ECE with JEE scores.
If ECE is your priority,
re-attempting JEE in April
for a higher percentile is a good option.

I got 88 precentilie cat: SC home state Karanakata, whcih strem i can NIT, IIIT, GFTI etc. to get computer since branch what shoulbe the precentilie i shoud be getting? thanks
Hello,
With an 88 percentile in the JEE Main exam and belonging to the SC category from Karnataka, your chances of securing a Computer Science Engineering (CSE) seat in NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs are as follows:
-
NITs :
- Top NITs like NIT Trichy or NIT Surathkal have higher cutoffs for CSE. For instance, in 2024, the closing rank for SC category in CSE at NIT Trichy was around 1,171.
- With an 88 percentile, your rank might be higher than these cutoffs, making it challenging to secure a CSE seat in top NITs.
-
IIITs :
- IIITs also have competitive cutoffs for CSE. For example, IIITM Gwalior had a closing rank of 11,494 in 2024, making it highly competitive.
- Your current percentile may not meet the typical cutoffs for CSE in top IIITs.
-
GFTIs :
- GFTIs generally have higher closing ranks compared to NITs and IIITs, providing a more accessible option.
- You may have a better chance of securing a CSE seat in GFTIs with your current percentile.
Hope you find it useful !
