Hello,
The final marks are the combination of interview and mains marks. So there is nothing like falling in UPSC interviews. UPSC has a certain cutoff for this total result.
In case if you fail(which will be a very disheartening thing) you'll have to go back and gather enough courage to start from stage 1 which is the preliminary stage. Try to score well in mains so that even if your interview doesn't go as expected your mains marks will balance out those.
In the post about you are talking about there are other exams for those that don't count in the UPSC examination.
Hope this will help, All the best!!
Particularly for UPSC, your final score is the combination of interview and mains scores which includes all the GS and optional papers. So there is nothing like failing or passing in UPSC interviews. UPSC decides a specific cutoff for the final result.
But, if you are not able to pass in the total result, you'll have to go back to stage 1 which is the preliminary stage with great dedication. So, try to score well in mains so that even if your interview doesn't go as per your expectations, your mains marks will balance out that.
Yes you can give the UPSC interview in Kannada. Kannada is included in the 8th schedule of the Indian constitution. Therefore, this language is allowed for the UPSC interview. You can exercise the medium of Personality Test while filling your DAF. But it won't be of any additional advantage unless you are too weak to speak in English.
All the best!
