Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi
If money is not an issue and you're choosing between Jamia Millia Islamia and D.Y. Patil for BDS, Jamia Millia Islamia would be the better choice academically and in terms of reputation.
JMI is a central government university with high NIRF rankings, good faculty, better clinical exposure in a government setup, and lower competition for patient flow. Being a government institute, the credibility and value of the degree are higher, and it's more respected for further studies or job opportunities.
D.Y. Patil is also good, especially in infrastructure and facilities, but it's a private deemed university, and the quality of education may vary based on the campus you choose. It can be a second option if you do not get into JMI or if you prefer a more modern private campus atmosphere.
So, if you have both options and want the best value in terms of academic quality and recognition, go for Jamia Millia Islamia.

With 81.69 percentile in JEE Main under the General EWS category, getting ECE in JMI, AMU, JNU, or NIT Hamirpur would be quite difficult. For these institutes, the cutoff for ECE usually stays higher, often above 90–95 percentile for EWS candidates. JMI and AMU tend to have competitive cutoffs because of limited seats, while JNU and NIT Hamirpur also require a higher percentile. However, you still have good chances in other NITs, IIITs, or state-level colleges where the cutoff percentile is comparatively lower.
As of now, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has not officially announced the release date for the second list of selected candidates for Class VI admissions for the academic session 2025-26. The first list was published on April 21, 2025, and the admission process for selected candidates took place from April 28 to April 30, 2025. It is advisable to regularly check the official JMI admission portal at admission.jmi.ac.in (https://admission.jmi.ac.in/) for the most current updates regarding the second list.
The second list for class 6 admission at JMI in 2025 session came on 21 May, this list included more names from waiting list who got selected after spots were available. The process works like this, first list out in April with first set of students, then seats that remain vacant go to second list in May, sometimes third list or spot admission comes later if seats left, usually this happens in June but date not fixed. You check name by login to portal with application number and download pdf or admission letter. After seat allotment you must report to school with original documents like birth certificate, residence proof, photo and pay fees before deadline. If you miss second list then you wait for next list and must monitor portal regularly.
