can I do a B.A major in sociology according to the new education policy

Sree Student Expert 15th Mar, 2021

Dear student,

In the new education policy the rules are changed and they are yet to announce them. Till then nothing can be said. As of now, there may be changes in the major as per NEP. Once they formulate the rules then only anything can be said on this.

Till then don't come to any conclusion. Just wait and see. Let the rules be out and later you can think of the course

Hope this information helped you.

Good Luck!!

can I do a B.A major in sociology according to the NEP

Pankhuri Kumari 15th Mar, 2021
Hii!
NEP hasn't been implemented yet. And there is no problem in pursuing BA major's in Sociology unless you fulfill the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for the Course states that the candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 45-50% marks in any subject stream from a recognised board of education. So, if you satisfy this criteria, you can apply for the course.
Hope this helps.
Good luck!

will there be no major in sociology according to the new education policy in 3 years

Subhrajit Mukherjee 14th Mar, 2021

See some of the changes like this are going to account but its not made clear till now. The Education Policy in new printed form will be enforced and after the enforcement of the policy all the rules will be applicable. So anything for confirm can't be said but yeah! there will be no perfect major as per the NEP 2020 (as much as released). As this isn't enforced so you can major now but after the enforcement only all this rules of NEP 2020 will apply.

I hope my answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

I am 2019 passed out. I heard that candidates with 2 years and 2 years plus gap between B.tech and M.tech will not be able to apply for major placements in NIT. Is it true? Can I apply for NIT Warangal without any fear?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 7th Apr, 2021

Hello,

The eligibility criteria may not be the same for every company that is visiting for campus placements. The eligibility criteria to appear for a placement recruitment will be different depending on the company, role and requirements. One to two years gap in education is permissible most of the time. So you shouldn't worry about that. You can participate in the counselling to get admission in to NIT. At the time of placement selection please check the eligibility criteria before and then apply for the placement if you fulfill the eligibility requirements.

In BSc(CS) is there physics and mathematics as major? If Yes , what are the topics included for the same. Is it an advancement of 12th Physics and Maths.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 10th Feb, 2021

hi,

see while you choose  b.sc in computer science for graduation, computer science would be your major discipline of studies, however besides the major subject you have to take general elective subjects. based on  many university curriculum and availability of faculty the subjects options would be allotted to student. you may take subjects as mathematics, physics, economics as elective subjects.  the maths and physics syllabus would be higher than 12th standard since it is a bachelors level course. besides on your major papers work you have to give sufficient time to score a good points on elective papers as well.

hope it would help.

can one take minor course in VIT? if so which minor would be recommended if the major is EEE?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 17th Mar, 2021

VIT offers a fully flexible credit system (FFCS) that gives students the opportunity to customize their subjects according to their interests. Students can select major and minor subjects according to their choice.

You can choose a secondary subject related to your main subject or completely different to explore and learn the subject according to your interests.

Here are some suggestions for minor themes that you can choose for EEE as the main theme.

If you are interested in computer oriented skills, you can choose Engineering and Computer Science as minor with EEE.

If you have an interest in geography, you can choose Geology, Geophysics or Engineering in Metallurgy and Materials as minor subjects.

You can also choose aerospace engineering or ocean engineering and naval architecture if you want to explore these fields.

You can also choose minor subjects like Chemical Engineering, Agricultural and Food Engineering, Economics, Architecture.

** For getting a minor degree there is a eligibility which you should ask your program chair or proctor the minimum credits required for minor degree.
