I got 201 marks in 18 th March 1st shift but 96.7 percentile feb 24 th 2 nd shift got 153 marks but achived 96.72 percentile ?

snigdha vig 24th Mar, 2021

Hi,

The reason for this is that percentiles are not absolute scores  rather they are the comparative scores and depends on factors other than just the raw score.

The percentile along with raw score depends on the difficulty of the question paper and the number of students who scored more than you.

I hope this helped you.

JEE Mains 2021 ( March Attempt ) Percentile = 77 Category = ST Domicile = Chhattisgarh Gender = Male Do I have any chances of getting NITs ?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 25th Mar, 2021

Hello,

Based on our JEE Main rank predictor tool the overall expected rank to be in between 235290 - 264500 .To check the overall percentile and rank you can use our JEE Main rank predictor tool: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor/

With 77 percentile you category rank will be around 50,000. Considering the previous year cut off for admission in NITs under ST category it is very difficult to get seat in NITs. You need to score minimum 92 percentile or above to have decent chances of getting seat in NITs. To check the cut off for NITs and IIITs you can click the link below

Your jee main marks vs percentile analysis is wrong I got 84 marks so my percentile according to your analysis is above 90 percentile but in my jee main March result it is showing 76 percentile

Sharon Rose Student Expert 25th Mar, 2021

Hello,

The marks vs percentile score trends depends on the highest marks scored by a candidate, difficulty level of the exam, total number of candidates appeared, tie breakers etc. Percentile score is the total percentage of  candidates who have scored equal marks or less than you in the session. The marks scored in each individual subject and the overall marks scored will be considered. The predicted score before the result and the final score varies because the predicted percentile score is based on previous year data and the numbers keep changing for the given factors that determine the percentile.  And the result that is published by NTA is fair and final. There will not be any discrepancies in the results.

With 76 percentile you may qualify in JEE Main 2021 based on previous year cut off percentile if you belong to OBC/EWS/SC/ST/PWD but if you belong to general category you may not qualify.

The qualifying cut off percentile for JEE Main 2020 was as follows

  • General:90.3765335
  • OBC-NCL:72.8887969
  • EWS:70.2435518
  • SC:50.1760245
  • ST:39.0696101
  • PWD:0.0618524

Cut off changes every year depending on various factors like number of seats available, difficulty level of exam and number of candidates appeared etc. You may prepare for JEE Advanced if you are interested to get admission in IIT.

Based on our JEE Main rank predictor tool the overall expected rank to be in between 245520 - 276000 . To check the overall percentile and rank you can use our JEE Main rank predictor tool: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor/
