Mathematics is a subject of numerical problems that require tremendous amount of practice. To have excellence in concepts of math student need to practice as many questions as possible. But the questions must be of varied types to be prepared for any type of question being asked in the exam.

There is a famous quotation Practice makes a man perfect and it is very true. Mathematics is all about practicing more and more. The more you practice the more you can master in it. You should practice at least 30-40 questions from question banks in addition to text book questions to build your mathematical skills. It will help you a lot in future.

In terms of general eligibility, each competitive exam has different standards, which are subject to change at any time. If you have passed all the subjects then you are eligible for some of the competitive exams you wish to appear in your stream. But there are some entrance exams whose eligibility criteria for appearing is to score more than 50 percent in class 12th examination. It actually varies from exam to exam. So you need to check all the details before appearing for that particular exam.

Mathematics is not a compulsory subject in CDS OTA, whereas it is a compulsory subject in CDS IMA/ INA/ AFA courses.
If from biology stream you can go for CDS OTA.

Hi 1 st yr of every b tech branch you will be taught basic electronics , basic electrical , c language , physics , chemistry mathematics ( differential and integral calculus) so as you have prepared for jee mains or may be any engineering entrance exam you have already covered the basics so you don't have to go and study before your btech but you can Just keep the notes of 11 12 and ncert of chemistry for reference so that you can relate the subjects better
