what is the creiteria for selection of AFMC college for mds degree
The selection criteria for admission to the MDS (Master of Dental Surgery) degree at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune involves a combination of factors, primarily centered around the NEET MDS scores.
A crucial component of the selection process is the candidate's performance in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS). This exam serves as the primary gateway for postgraduate dental admissions in India
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a recognized university. They must also be registered with the State Dental Council and have completed their compulsory rotatory internship.
In addition to the NEET MDS scores, AFMC may conduct its own screening process. This could involve interviews and medical examinations. It is very important to check the official AFMC website for any other specific test that could be conducted. The final selection is based on a merit list that considers the candidate's performance in the NEET MDS and, potentially, the AFMC screening process.
Eligibility criteria and selection procedures can be subject to change, so always refer to the official sources for the most accurate information.
I hope this helps.

hi.. m from jharkhand.. I hv to fill btsc form ..but m registered in jharkhand.. and provided the same details to MDS form.. now can I change my registration from jharkhand to bihar ??
Hello Swati,
If you are registered in Jharkhand and have already provided the same details for the MDS form , you cannot change your state of registration directly. However, you can still apply for the BTSC (Bihar Technical Service Commission) form if the eligibility criteria allow candidates from other states to apply.
To change your registration state, you may need to:
- Cancel your Jharkhand registration (if possible) and register afresh in Bihar.
- Or, apply for BTSC as an other-state candidate if allowed under the eligibility rules.
Check the
BTSC official notification
for details on state-specific eligibility and registration requirements.
I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, then feel free to share your questions with us, we will be happy to assist you.
Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

Which is best field to pursue MDS from? And when is the right time to start preparing for NEET during BDS?
Hello,
The best field to pursue MDS depends on your interest and career goals. Some of the most popular and high-demand specializations are:
- Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery – Good for those interested in surgical procedures.
- Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics – High demand in private practice.
- Prosthodontics – Deals with dental prosthetics like crowns and bridges.
- Endodontics – Focuses on root canal treatments.
- Periodontology – Specializes in gum diseases and implants.
It's best to start preparing from third year of BDS as subjects get more clinical-based. However, serious preparation should begin in internship with proper revision and mock tests.
Hope it helps !

please help !! I am coming under oec (sc) category from kerala. So while applying for neet mds there is only obc,sc,st options. When i look in the central list of obc my caste comes under obc. But when i look in the list by kerala government, i come under oec-sc. So for neet mds which category should i choose ????
Hello,
For NEET MDS , here's the clarification regarding your category:
-
Central List of OBC : Your caste appears under OBC, but this is based on the central government's classification.
-
Kerala Government List : In Kerala's list, you fall under the OEC-SC category, which is specific to the state's classification.
-
- Since NEET is a central-level exam, the classification that matters is based on the central government’s policies.
- If you are applying for the central quota, you should select the OBC category as per the central list, as the state’s OEC-SC classification may not apply for NEET MDS.
- If applying for state quota in Kerala, refer to Kerala's guidelines, which may accept your OEC-SC status.
-
Consult Kerala Authorities : It's advisable to confirm with the Kerala State authorities or the NEET MDS helpdesk to ensure accurate selection based on the state and central quota policies.
Hope it helps !
