I got 61 marks in ts pgecet what will be my rank i am from mechanical engineering and is there any chance of getting JntuH (SC category)

Abhishek 19th Aug, 2024

Hi there,

Hope you are doing fine.

With 61 marks in TS PGECET, predicting your exact rank can be challenging without the precise ranking formula and considering the overall competition and number of candidates. However, based on previous year  data and general trends  a score of 61 often places you in a competitive position likely within the top 5000 to 10000 ranks  but this can vary.

For Mechanical Engineering, this rank might still provide opportunities for admission into various government and private engineering colleges in Telangana. Many institutions offer specializations and courses related to mechanical engineering, including those in emerging fields and advanced studies.

To get specific details regarding it, you can visit the official website of the ts pgecet and then check the required details.

Hope this resolves your query.

Can I pursue an M.Tech in AI/ML or Computer Science through PGCET after completing a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, and am I eligible to choose the CSE paper during PGCET?

Ishita 30th Aug, 2024

Hello Aspirant

There are possibilities for pursuing an M.Tech in AI/ML or Computer Science after a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering through PGCET, but eligibility can vary depending on the specific PGCET exam and the universities you're applying to. Here's a breakdown:

Eligibility for M.Tech:

  • PGCET Exam:

    • Some states like Karnataka conduct PGCET exams with separate papers for different specializations (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science). In such cases, you wouldn't be eligible for the CSE paper unless your B.Tech is in Computer Science.
    • Other states might have a common PGCET exam for all engineering disciplines. Here, with a good score and depending on the university's specific eligibility criteria, you might be considered for M.Tech programs in CS or AI/ML, even with a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

  • University Eligibility:
    • Each university offering M.Tech programs might have its own specific eligibility criteria. Some might require a B.Tech in a relevant field like Computer Science for CS or AI/ML programs.
    • However, some universities might offer these programs even for students from other engineering backgrounds, provided they meet certain requirements (e.g., bridge courses in computer science fundamentals).

Check the specific PGCET exam you're planning to take (e.g., Karnataka PGCET) and understand their paper structure and eligibility criteria for M.Tech programs.

Explore M.Tech programs in AI/ML or CS offered by universities you're interested in. Look for their eligibility criteria regarding the qualifying B.Tech degree and any additional requirements for students from non-CS backgrounds.

If the information online is unclear, don't hesitate to contact the admissions office of the universities directly. They can clarify their eligibility criteria for your specific situation.

Hope this helps

Can I persue MS in Computer science from abroad even I have done Btech in Mechancial Engineering in India

Nitin Kumar 4th Jun, 2024

Yes, you can pursue an MS in Computer Science from abroad even with a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from India. While a CS undergrad is ideal, universities value well-rounded students with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which mechanical engineering cultivates. Highlight any CS or programming courses you took during your BTech. If your background is light, consider taking online courses or MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) in CS fundamentals to demonstrate your interest and ability.

Some universities offer MS in CS programs with bridges or preparatory courses for students from non-CS backgrounds. Look for programs that acknowledge the value of your engineering background while providing a foundation in CS.
