According, to the 2017 analysis you can check the important topics for JEE Main below in physics section-

 

Physics

Capacitance- 6.67%

Current Electricity- 10.00%

Calorimetry & Thermal Expansion- 6.67%

KTG & Thermodynamics- 6.67%

Rigid Body Dynamics- 6.67%

Work, Power & Energy- 6.67%

Modern Physics- 10.00%

 

In Mechanics, Gravitation holds 3.33% weightage

SVNIT Surat is phenomenal brand and has one of best placements scenarios for Mtech candidates.

Civil engineering has been a good branch with experienced faculty and has seen very good learning opportunities.

Soil Mechanics and Transportation engineering are best brnaches and has created good demand.

Class 11 mechanics broadens your knowledge about Newton's laws and it's application whereas class 12 physics electricity gives you Knowledge of solving various electrical circuits. Both are completely different.

No there is no use of mechanics of class 11 in class 12 physics electricity . Both concepts are different completely.

You strategical planning should be crystal clear aligned with your vision. For bagging good rank in IIT JEE, you need to prepare for competition exam along with Board syllabus. Most of the students find it tough, but Board syllabus is the key success for clearing JEE Examination.
 
The strategy to score good marks is, having a clear understanding of basic concepts, also problem-solving skills.
 
For mechanics portion, you can refer these books:
  • H.C. Verma
  • D.C. Pandey

One book is better than many in proportion, as reader exerts more efforts is understanding the complete book. There is a huge hike in the number of books available for preparation of competition exam. You need to choose them wisely so that you can achieve some value addition in terms of problem-solving strategies.
 
The complete JEE Mains examination is based on the basic understanding of concepts, which can be built with NCERT books. Additionally, for practice, you can refer some good books. For mechanics part, you can refer:
 
  • H.C. Verma
  • D.C. Pandey
Also, solving mock tests will give a massive boost to your preparation level for the exam.
