Is metaliurgy a chore branch? if not which sub stream it belongs?

Shudhanshu Gupta Student Expert 6th Nov, 2019
Hello.
Metallurgy branch of engineering is not a core branch in actual it is a subject branch of mechanical engineering, it is a narrow  branch of mechanical engineering but still you study it like a core branch because there are many core companies which required candidates with purely metallurgy based knowledge.
Best of luck.

what are the combination of various streams of mechanical engineering?

Aditi amrendra Student Expert 10th Dec, 2019
Hello,

Given below are few of the combinations with mechanical stream.
  • Mechanical Engineering : Thermofluids and turbomachinery
  • Mechanical Engineering : Design and manufacture
  • Mechanical Engineering : Solid mechanics and materials
  • Mechanical Engineering : Energy systems
  • Mechanical Engineering : Power systems / Mechatronics

I hope this helps.

can metallurgy be considered as a sub stream chemical engineering?

ANPAM KUMAR Student Expert 7th Oct, 2019

Hey there

Metal is a crucial part of our industries band thus we need engineering who can extract them economically and efficiently for that we have metallurgy as a branch in engineering. They study about metals their physical and chemical properties. But one can't say it's a sub stream of chemical engineering. All engineering branches are related like in metallurgy itself we learn thermodynamics and same in mechanical engineering so then these branches will also be similar. But it's not like that chemical engineering is large scale chemist work and thus in making demineralised water to ammonia and etc we need chemical engineering. And for iron ores etc we need metallurgy both have different purposes.

Good luck

I am in class 12 with science stream and want to be a metallurgical engineer.

Ritik nakra Student Expert 27th Sep, 2019
Hey Abhishek! Admissions in Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering can be obtained through entrance examination that are conducted on national, state or institute level. The candidates are required to study subjects such as physical metallurgy and extraction metallurgy etc. Average fee of the course is INR 75,000/annum; it is relatively less for government institutes. Candidates applying for the course must have prior knowledge of basic chemistry and physics. The basic eligibility criteria is pass in all the necessary subjects like physics, chemistry, Mathematics and English in 10 + 2. Hooe this may help you.

Which engineering branch has more scope inside and outside of India? Mining engineering or metallurgical engineering? What is the basic difference between those two branches?

Yash Dev Student Expert 20th Oct, 2019
Hello student as per source mining engineering is more preferable than metallurgy engineering as metallurgy is also a part of mining engineering. Both of them are good at their place but mining engineering is more in demand so you should go with mining engineering.

Feel free to comment if you have any doubt
Good luck

Metallurgy a stream of chemical or mechanical

deepanshi_1560771933 Student Expert 4th Sep, 2019

The physics & Chemistry of metals and their processing will be dealt by Chemical Metallurgy. The electrolytic processes like extraction, refining, coating, plating and deposition is dealt by Elctro-metallurgy. Thus metallurgy is a full -fledged branch of Engineering and is not a branch of Chemistry. Hopefully this information is enough to take

Good luck!

Metallurgy a sub stream chemical or mechanical?

snehasinha1718 Student Expert 4th Sep, 2019

Hey,

Metallurgical and material engineering is a sub branch of chemical engineering.  But it has some courses of mechanical too like material science, deformation of materials, mechanical properties of materils, heat treatment etc. You won't get more courses from chemical engineering in metallurgy.  Metallurgy has course similar to mechanical and even some of courses are there which are not thaught in mechanical engineering.

Hope it helps

Is Metallurgy is a stream of chemical?

ANPAM KUMAR Student Expert 2nd Sep, 2019

Hey there

No there is no such thing about these two branches. If you are thinking that all metals which are when extracted needs chemical processing all chemical is used is metal extraction and all then I would say all branches are somehow connected like electrical engineer use induction motors whose whole structure is made by mechanical so all branches are interconnected do not get confused. Metallurgy is a demanding stream in India as number of colleges having metallurgy as a branch is less in India.

Good luck
