Can i pursue Msc in Microbiology after Bsc in Community Science? if yes, then how?

kumardurgesh1802 20th Oct, 2024

Hello Arshi,

Yes, you can pursue an M.Sc. in Microbiology after completing a B.Sc. in Community Science (formerly known as Home Science) if you meet certain conditions. Here’s how you can go about it:

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Basic Eligibility : Most universities require candidates to have a B.Sc. in a related biological science field like Microbiology, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, or Life Sciences. However, some universities may accept students from allied fields like Community Science if they have studied relevant subjects.

  2. Relevant Subjects : During your B.Sc., if you had subjects like Biochemistry, Genetics, Biology, or related topics, you might be eligible. Ensure you have a good understanding of fundamental biological concepts.

    Steps to Apply:

  3. Check University Requirements : Research the universities that offer M.Sc. Microbiology programs and check their eligibility criteria. Look for universities that accept allied fields like Community Science.

  4. Entrance Exams : Some universities might require you to take an entrance exam for M.Sc. Microbiology. Popular exams include:

    • DUET (Delhi University)
    • BHU PET (Banaras Hindu University)
    • JNU CEEB (Jawaharlal Nehru University)
    • State-level or university-specific entrance tests

  5. Prepare for Entrance : Since your background is in Community Science, it might help to review the basics of Microbiology, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology for entrance exams.

  6. Apply : Once you’ve identified the universities and met the eligibility criteria, apply online through their respective portals and submit required documents like your B.Sc. transcripts, certificates, and entrance exam scores.

    Universities to Explore:

  • Delhi University (DU)
  • Banaras Hindu University (BHU)
  • Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)
  • University of Mysore
  • Osmania University

By ensuring you meet the eligibility and preparing accordingly, you can pursue an M.Sc. in Microbiology after B.Sc. in Community Science.

will I get in ou or jntu for 1130 rank as an oc candidate for MSC microbiology or MSC forensic science

vaibhavi bhalsod 28th Aug, 2024

Hello

With a rank of 1130 as an OC candidate, it's difficult to predict with certainty whether you'll get into Osmania University (OU) or Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) for (link unavailable) in Microbiology or Forensic Science. However, here are some general insights:

- *Osmania University*: OU offers (link unavailable) courses in Forensic Science and Biochemistry, but not Microbiology . The admission process is through counseling based on marks obtained in the Osmania University Common Entrance Test (OUCET) .

- *Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University*: JNTU offers courses, including Microbiology, through the Institute of Science and Technology . Admission is through university-level counseling based on the rank obtained in the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad Entrance Test (JNTUHET) .

To better understand your chances, I recommend checking the cutoff ranks for previous years and the specific admission criteria for each university and course.
