Mop Up Counselling
Hello Aspirant,
If you have not got any seat even till round 2nd then you can proceed for mop-up round and there is no need to make fresh registration again for mop-up round, also note that now no fee will be refunded neither the counselling fee nor the security money. As per the rules if the candidate takes an exit before round 2nd then the security money is refunded but if you appear for round 2nd then either you have to accept the allotted seat or you have to lose your security money even if the seat is not allotted to you. So I would recommend you to wait till Stray vacancy round because you might get chance in stray vacancy round.
For complete details regarding mop-up round kindly check out the information brochure released by MCC: :-

Candidates who are eligible for the Mop Up Round:
Candidates who are not eligible for the Mop Up Round:
You will only be refunded the amount if you are not allotted any seat even in the Mop Up Round. Because you did not fill the status retention form, your seat will be cancelled and for mop up round it is as if you do not have a seat on hand. But if you secure a seat in the mop up round, you might have to join the College and in such case, there will be no refund.
Hello student,
Admissions to the medical colleges in India happens through two modes 1)15% All India quota counselling conducted by DGHS-Directorate General of Health Services 2) 85% state quota by respective state commissions
DGHS conducts 2 rounds of counselling after which remaining seats are surrendered to the respective state and deemed counselling authorities. This is called mop up round.Only the following candidates are eligible to take part-Waitlisted candidates,Candidates who didn't get a seat,Candidates who cleared required required NEET cutoff but didn't apply for NEET counselling .Candidates who got a seat in 1st and 2nd round cannot participate.
If after the mop up round the candidate secures a seat and fails to join the same will result in a penalty of around 20 lakhs (usually fixed by the respective state) and cannot participate in state counseling process for next two academic years.
